Does drinking soda seem to make it worse for anyone?

Although almost everything seems to bother me, Diet Coke does not. I drink it very rarely, however. Water is my regular beverage.

I have become caffeine-intolerant as well as gluten-intolerant. Also artificial sweeteners give me the runs. 95% of the time no soda is worth it...

Before my symptoms began, I kept the Coca-Cola bottlers busy. After the onset of symptoms, though, I eventually discovered that I could drink one a day, without problems. If I drank 2 or more, I had a reaction. Sooooooo, I cut them out completely, (and all other brands, also), for a year and a half, while my gut was healing. I'm pretty sure it was due to the fructose content, because I had to avoid virtually all sugars, while I was recovering. Traces were OK, but significant amounts were not - except for maple sugar. For some reason or other, maple sugar never bothered me.

It is suspected that some of the hardest material known to science can be found in the skulls of GI specialists who insist that diet has nothing to do with the treatment of microscopic colitis.
