Letter from my surgeon

Got a letter from the surgeon who did my neck surgery. He doesn't see "fusion" of the cadaver bone, so possibly my body is rejecting it.

I went for a couple more x-rays so he can see if there is any movement or if the bone is stable. I will know more after that.

I cringe at the thought of another surgery. I am still making payments on my thyroid surgery. I will completely weigh all my options. Surgery will be a last resort.

I did find out something rather interesting. When your on Entocort and you have surgery your adrenals are stressed to the MAX. No wonder I never got back to my normal self. Now I am really thinking my thyroid isn't the main issue.

Hi Lori,

I certainly hope that surgery doesn't have to be redone--it's bad enough to have to go through it once.

You may be on to something about the Entocort. It's true that Entocort can cause atrophy of the spleen and adrenals. I'm not sure what the risks for that would be, at the labeled dosages, but it has definitely been observed in trials with rats, using increased dosage rates. This possibility can obviously add significant unnecessary complications to the problem of making a correct diagnosis.
