About Barney's Almond Butter

I heard from Barney's Almond Butter regarding tocopherol.

Here is their response:

"We are soy and tocopherol free!!"

It looks like we can eat it worry-free. I don't think they make any other nut butter.

Morning Gloria,

I want to supplement with some nut butters and almond would be my first choice. Can you find Barney's in regular grocers or health food stores or do you buy on line? I cannot locate it.

Maggie, I ordered mine from Amazon. My grocery store originally carried it, but now only seems to have the crunchy kind.

I bought it at a Safeway store. Their website http://www.barneybutter.com/ lets you search for a nearby store that carries it, though it doesn't show the Safeway store where I bought it.

I read a review in the paper which said that Barney's almond butter doesn't contain the skins. I wrote them today and this is their response:

We blanch our almonds which removes the skins. That is what gives Barney Butter its smooth and creamy texture!!

I'm perplexed. Why can I eat almond milk and flour, but not almond butter? Is it the fiber? One of the ingredients listed is palm fruit oil, but I didn't seem to have problems with Spectrum shortening in bread, which is made from palm oil. Could it be too much oil?

All of the fiber would have to be in the flour, as well, so I doubt that's the problem. That seems to point to the oil, though I have no idea why it would be a problem.
