New MRT test not available until November

Discussions can be posted here about mediator release testing (MRT), as offered by Oxford Biological Technologies, in conjunction with the LEAP program, which is claimed to determine a relative level of sensitivity to various foods and chemicals by measuring an increase in the ratio of liquids to solids in a blood sample that has been exposed to a specific allergen.

New MRT test not available until November

Post by Zizzle »

Here's a message from my soon-to-be dietician:

The start of the new test has been moved to mid-Nov (no exact date)

Makes sense to wait. As for cost, as of Sept 1 I've started doing the MRT testing as part of a package only. You contacted me before then so am happy to honor an "a la cart" approach.

At the moment the MRT test is $350. When I checked on the new test last Fri I asked about any potential price increase and didn't receive an answer. Will let you know as soon as I know something. Will be at a professional conference in a couple of weeks where I will see the lab staff in person so will ask.

My hourly rate is $125. If you look at my website, www.susanmoorerd.com , you'll see that usually the first appt is $150 as it is 90 min. For clients who know they want the MRT I have found I only need an hour to get things started so charge accordingly.

The package which includes the 1 hr initial appt, the test and a total of 60 min of follow-up time is $500, so you save $50 overall.

As for a g-i doc I do not have one that I recommend as it has been hit/miss. Surprisingly get more referrals from gen practitioners and gyns. I've not asked colleagues in a few months, so let me send a note out and see if there is a new person or two in town.

Look forward to meeting you -

Z,

That sounds like a wonderful and reasonable investment, and I like the "tone of voice" of her email. Thanks for the update on timing - this could be a very interesting Thanksgiving!

I'm looking forward to it, and I know you are, too.
