Feeling more in control......

Post by annie oakley »

Well....I am over my self pity period...it's time to take charge of this knee replacement thing. Had a wonderful talk with husband this weekend. He is very supportive about it all. DIL has offered to let me recover there in Arizona (have to think about that One tho) she is a very sweet DIL. I love her to pieces. Anyway...I am going to try and appy for disability while I am off work with recovery....a friend Of SIL did that and got it. I may or may not get it...but it's worth a try. I will not let this Knee replacement defeat me....I AM BACK! :mallet: No more beat_deadhorse: over this thing. Thank you all for your support and words of wisdom....that;s what I like about this board.....all the love and compassion shown for one another could heal all the world if the whole world practiced it it. Love Oma

Chat with Momster, she had a knee replacement recently and is fixin to have the other replaced sometime next year. She might be able to answer some questions, aleviate some of your fears and offer support.

You made my day by such a positive post. Thank you.

Love,
Joanna

 Oma!

I'm glad you're feeling better. A good attitude and listening to the doctor DOES help while healing. The saying "It's all in your mind" does work during the healing process!

We will always be here for you - that's a *given*!!!! We will always :cheerleader: you on!!!!!!

Love and hugz,
Mars

That's the spirit. You probably won't want to travel for a while. That was generous of DIL to offer!

Ask whatever questions you need. My doctor's nurse was great. He told me to call whenever I had questions. He talked and listened to me for about an hour after they had been seeing patients all day before my first surgery.

Take care,
Brenda

Morning Oma,

I am so happy to hear that you are accepting of the knee replacement and from everyone I know that had one - one person was the biggest baby of all - they have all done extremely well and were so thankful they did it and wondered why they waited so long.

You will need rehab during the healing process, so it probably would be good to stay in your area and not Arizona. That way you can keep in close touch with your doctor and probably feel more comfortable at home. Maybe DIL can visit you there and help out?

A peaceful state of mind makes life so much easier.

Love, Maggie

Oma, I am very happy that you are feeling more on top of things. Of course, it was a shock to come face to face with it, but now you can deal with it. Hooray for you, my dear!!!

Be sure to write to Momster about her knee replacement. She is not hanging around here much, but she is very much alive. And I know she would want to help if she can.

And, of course, we are here with all kinds of encouragement and sympathy.

Lots and lots of love,

Sally
