One week into my new diet

Post by karenswans »

I thought I'd report on the changes I'm seeing after going GF, SF, DF, and EF.

Some history: I had a very bad flare that lasted from May through August. In early August, the flare let up a little, but I was still having to get out of bed at around 4am to run to the bathroom. I would have about 3 episodes of D in the morning and that was it until the next day. This was way better than I had been during my bad flare, but it was still wearing me down.

The day after I started the diet, yes, the very next day, I didn't have to jump out of bed. The frequency of the D also decreased until it was down to 1/day. And today I'd say it was 80% Norman. Already!

I also feel more alert. I think the pain in my hip is lessening. And the ringing I've had in my ears since May now is just intermittent rather than constant. The vertigo is lessened, too.

I can't believe it. I had no idea this diet would show such a remarkable and fast effect. Maybe it's because the worst of my recent flare was already over? Anyway, I am convinced, and oh so happy that I found this board which persuaded me to try diet changes before trying meds. I'm also happy that I have a gastro who was supportive of that attempt (though he suggested the FODMAP diet).

Thank you all so much! I look forward to more improvements over time until I'm as smart, beautiful, and healthy as all of you!

Great to hear--I'm going GF, SF, and egg free--trying to find out about my dairy/ casein sensitivities.
Just diagnosed LC--thought I was IBS-D for the last 30 years! : /

Karen,

That super! I hope that your health continues to improve on the fast track until you're feeling better than you've ever felt in your life.

Thanks for such an inspiring update.

It is suspected that some of the hardest material known to science can be found in the skulls of GI specialists who insist that diet has nothing to do with the treatment of microscopic colitis.
