Hi All,
Has anyone else tried the new GF Rice Krispies? What did you think of them? I've seen reviews that said that they tasted just like the original formulation, but I tried a bowl of them this morning, with a little sugar and Silk Almond Milk, and they didn't seem to match my memories of the original version. Of course, it's been over 10 years since I've tried any Rice Krispies, so maybe my memory is off, or my taste buds are off. Maybe I just need to get used to them again. To me, they didn't seem to have much flavor, and they seemed tougher than my memory of the original version.
The only ingredients listed are whole grain brown rice, sugar, salt, BHT, and some vitamins, so maybe I was expecting too much. I'll say this, though, "they certainly didn't taste bad, and I had absolutely no sign of any reaction to them". That's something that I can't say about any other mainstream GF cereal that I've tried. The Chex GF cereals, for example, don't cause any D, or aches and pains, but they do cause a slight amount of bloating. It's not serious, and I probably wouldn't even notice it, if I weren't looking for it, but as we all know, unlike the general population, we tend to look for symptoms, after we eat something, (as if we're almost expecting to react. ).

Hi Tex!
I enjoyed them but, for some reason I haven't been able to tolerate almond/coconut milk often so I haven't had a bowl lately. I remember getting them and being so excited that I poured a bowl, went downstairs to switch a load of laundry and heard a strange noise....it was the snap, crackle and pop! I don't remember them ever being that loud before! :)

I like them. They are more substantial than the original because they are made with brown rice instead of white rice, so I think that's a good thing. I suspect they have less sugar then the original too. I think sales of the whole grain GF version will eventually eclipse the sales of the regular, and they'll make all Rice Krispies GF. They sure do make a lot of noise. I'm hoping to make Rice Krispie treats with them soon.
It may be the fiber that threw me off - I'm not a fan of fiber. I believe this is one of the safest mainstream GF products that's currently available.
Thanks for the responses.
