Hmmmmmmmmmm. That's synthetic human parathyroid hormone. Interesting.
Unlike other treatments for osteoporosis that primarily reduce bone turnover, Teriparatide Acetate reduces bone turnover, stimulates the formation of new bone, and increases bone mass.

Thanks for the info.

It is suspected that some of the hardest material known to science can be found in the skulls of GI specialists who insist that diet has nothing to do with the treatment of microscopic colitis.

I wonder whether my doc would consider my parathyroid hormones worth reviewing, in our upcoming chat about my bone-density results. I had planned to pull out this list of tests as a counter-move to her likely proposing of Fosamax (nevernevernever gonna take that): http://www.womentowomen.com/understandy ... fault.aspx (it does include the parathyroid hormone test).

I wish I had not misplaced my recent bloodwork (hmm, could this messy desk be a symptom of MC) - I don't know whether it was checked as part of that panel. It would be interesting to track this over time.

Thanks for this,

Sara

I won't take any more Fosamax although my oncologist keeps trying to push it.

I'm off of it for good, too. I've read that it reaches it's maximum benefit (damage?) after five years, anyway.

Gloria, you're right, because after the first few years of Fosamax, my bone density test showed positive results, however, after 10+ years, it got worse than when I started. Go figure!

Never again.
