Hi everyone,
Well, I'll admit to being rather underwhelmed by my test results. I came back with just 4 foods on my high reactivity list, and I never eat any of them regularly:
almonds
asparagus
turkey
lemon
Of the mildly reactive foods, I barely eat any of them, either. Those starred are those that I was eating very occasionally before my last flare:
Basil - was eating dried regularly
Beef *
Buckwheat
Caffeine - never eat
Cheese/cow's milk/yellow #5/fructose/goat's milk/msg/oats/sorbic acid - never eat
Lettuce*
Maple*
Mint*
Orange*
Pear*
Quinoa - was eating regularly
Sesame - was eating regularly, especially sesame oil
Sole - never have
Tea - I assume they mean black tea? Because I drink rooibos red tea all day long - no caffeine, basically an herbal tea
Tomato*
In other words, I really doubt that anything on my list was contributing to my flare. It was probably all of the fiber in the vegetables I was eating. I'm still getting a lot of cramping and a huge amount of gas, especially if I eat even 1 square of chocolate, which is getting easier to resist by the day since the hours of discomfort do not balance out 2 minutes of pleasure.
So, right now I'm eating a lot of eggs, chicken, some pork, zucchini, potatoes, carrots, kobocha squash, avocado and cooked apples. I'm going on vacation for ten days on Wednesday, so I won't plan to do anything with this information until I'm back. But do you think it's really going to help me to rotate foods if my list doesn't seem to give me that much new information? I'm not even sure I have enough foods on my "can handle" list right now to do a full 3-day rotation.
Thanks, everyone!
Elizabeth

Elizabeth,
I can imagine how frustrating this is to untangle. I do believe you're right about tea - I'd assume that means black/green/white teas, which are the same plant. It is possible that your rooibos is a factor, actually - I was surprised to see it on a list of legumes which Marliss posted several months ago. It's kind of an out-there guess, I must admit. The proteins in soy and other beans that we know can cause problems are in the seed, not the leaves, analogous to the gluten protein in wheat. So...
Have a great vacation, and when you get back, I hope you're refreshed and ready to tackle the 3-day rotation. I wish I could offer more substantial help.

Hi Elizabeth,
Sorry the MRT results are not more helpful for you. That must have been quite a disappointment. I agree that you don't have much to work with in terms of a 3 day rotation diet. If it's any consolation, I got my MRT results over 9 months ago, and I'm only now able to think in terms of a real rotation diet, as I'm finally starting to add more variety.
What has been very helpful for me is to eat many small meals throughout the day, all the while being careful not to eat too much of one particular food.
Good luck to you and happy travels.
Love,
Kari
