Is it possible to overdose on a vitamin that comes from regular food sources and not supplementation? What might the symptoms be of overdosing on these vitamins?

Overdose of Vitamins from Natural Food Sources?

Mike,
It is possible but less likely. For example, people who eat a lot of orange veggies with beta carotene can develop yellow/orange skin. I think the reason we hear more about supplements is because most studies are done using them, rather than natural foods.

Blessed are they who can laugh at themselves, for they shall never cease to be amused.
Hi Mike,
I think the recommeded daily allowances are so low compared to what we optimally should get, that you can't be hurt by any of those numbers. The only one perhaps that you could research more is iron, for men can have consequences if you eat too much. It should be an easy thing to do. (I'm sorry I'd do it now, but my whole day is slipping away and I HAVE to get off the computer)
See ya, Marsha

I'll look up the Iron info.Marsha wrote:Hi Mike,

FYI It appears that you and Polly are correct. I found a page that I remembered about here: http://lpi.oregonstate.edu/infocenter/contentnuts.html
It seems to indicate that most of the overdose info is for supplements and not for real foods, and I still don't come close to overdose numbers.
