Lab tests and Entocort
Just checking in again after two weeks. I just finished getting my samples ready to send to Dallas on Monday to Enterolab. I am hoping against hope that I am not sensitive to dairy, but have been off of it for three weeks now along with the GF diet. I have been able to reduce the entocort to 6 mg a day and have had no problems. Everything is normal at this point and the GERD is much better, but I am still taking the Pepcid.
The man at he Raisin Rack store in Ohio asked me to try Coconut oil and Apple Cider vinegar. I tried the coconut oil ( not bad) and have not yet had the courage to take the apple cider vinegar.
I bought the A and C panel for the lab and my insurance will actually pay for it so that was a plus.
Thanks for the advice on on of this. It has been very helpful and such an outlet for me. JMH

That's good news, because some insurance companies are still not willing to pay for those tests.Joseph wrote:I bought the A and C panel for the lab and my insurance will actually pay for it so that was a plus.

It is suspected that some of the hardest material known to science can be found in the skulls of GI specialists who insist that diet has nothing to do with the treatment of microscopic colitis.
Hi Joseph,
Thanks for the update - glad things seem to be going well for you. No matter what the Enterolab results show, it should be a relief to know for sure what your issues are (at least that's how I felt). that you're OK with dairy.
Love,
Kari
P.S. Hope your results will not be as bad as you fear Cynthia .

Hi Joseph,
Do you mind telling me how you went about getting reimbursement from your insurance. I have been afraid to even try. I have Cigna, and they are pretty good about covering most things. My internist is very progressive, so I think she would order them if I asked, but I have already paid for them and sent in my samples, so I am not sure where to start with the insurance.
Now I am just anxiously awaiting the results!
Thanks,
Susie

Joseph,
You are truly fortunate that your insurance will pay for the tests, although admittedly I never even tried.
My youngest daughter, who has subsequently tested genetically GS via Enterolab, had horrible Gerd for years. The apple cider vinegar worked for her, worth giving it a try, IMO.

Hi Joseph,
I just got my results back for Enterolab. Like most people here I was already GF, DF and SF. So when I saw the results I was kind of shocked at first to see that I couldn't tolerate tuna, eggs, chicken, pork and corn. When the shock wore off I just said oh well. It was time for a changes anyway, I was getting bored at the food that I was eating.
I also got my test paid for by my insurance company, minus the copay that I would have paid at the lab. I am glad because like you I did the A and C panel and it was costly but well worth it. In january I want to have the Gene test done and I am hoping my insurance will cover that too! I would also like to the MRT test done just to tweak what I already know.
Good Luck!
Please share your results when they come back. I am interested in seeing how yours come out because your still having dairy. Its going to be interesting, LOL
