New GI
I have been slacking and not had much time to get on here lately... I am now 12 weeks prego! Everything has been going ok with the pregnancy so far, except for nausea and flare ups together. Its not a fun combo at all!
Due to this, I sent in intermintent FLMA papers for work to my GI since when they hit together, I feel like two Mack trucks have hit me instead of just one lol. My response from them was to have my OB to fill them out since my last appointment was June of this year. I called my PCP since I knew the OB would not fill the out bc he is treating me for my pregnancy not my mastocytic colitis. My PCP and I have known each other for years outside of her practice and she was highly upset with the GI's office over it. She told me that I was the 4th pt of theirs to have issues with him or his office in the last few weeks. I told her that I wished for a referral to a different office and the one that she is sending me to is a great GI, especially during pregnancy.
I hate to leave a GI that know my history, but it just makes me wonder what their issue is??? Also, if they treat me like that over filling out paperwork, what is next?
I see the new one in the morning and hope that it goes well. I just hate starting all over again during pregnancy....It seems that is all I have been doing is going from one doctors office to another and its just going to get worse!

Hi Ellie,
CONGRATULATIONS on your pregnancy! That's wonderful news.
Your soon-to-be-former GI sounds like a jerk. It's good you are finding a new one. I totally understand about not wanting to start over, but this one doesn't sound like he cares (or at least his office staff don't).
Good luck tomorrow!

Probably laziness and greed, leading up to secondary stupidity.Ellie wrote:I hate to leave a GI that know my history, but it just makes me wonder what their issue is???
Be sure to have your pathology report sent to the new GI specialist, (together with the endoscopy report from your lazy former GI doc).
Sorry to hear that you're having nausea and D together. Less than a third of MC patients experience nausea, but I was lucky enough to have the combination, (and I wasn't even pregnant ), so I can certainly understand what you're dealing with. It's difficult to say whether your nausea is due to morning sickness, or MC, but I can vouch for the fact that sitting on the throne, while vomiting into a trash can, is definitely not an enjoyable way to pass the time.
Best of luck with your appointment

It is suspected that some of the hardest material known to science can be found in the skulls of GI specialists who insist that diet has nothing to do with the treatment of microscopic colitis.
Congrats on your pregnancy! That's wonderful!
I am not pregnant, but I can identify with your feelings about starting with a new GI. I go to a new one on Thursday. I don't know that he will be any better. There is no one in network I know about. I wish there was someone who came with recommendations, but there is no one.

Ellie,
Congratulations - what exciting news! Here's hoping your new GI will be helpful and caring, and have helpful staff to boot. And even bigger hopes that the nausea is just about to pass as you move into the 2nd trimester.
Wishing you a healthy and joyful pregnancy, and thanks for sharing the happy news,
Sara

Hi Ellie,
BIG CONGRATS TO YOU!!! Thats great news that you are going to have a baby. Its one of the biggest joys in life!
As for your old GI, Say GOODBYE! Dont look back! Starting over with someone new can be hard but for you to have a great start with a new baby your carring, I think you have made a great decision.
I went threw 6 GI before I found the one I use now. It was hard and I wasn't pregnant. Stay strong, you will make it through this.
Good Luck
Robin

The visit went well with the new GI. I had a copy of the pathology report and all my records sent over. She decided to keep me on the same course of medications with the Apriso and Gastrocrom since they are working well the majority of the time. My OB put me on Zofran to help the nausea and it does. My only hope right now is to get the morning sickness behind and enjoy the second trimester. Thanks everyone!
