What an evening!! Sigh!! What happened, I was closing a curtain and with my shoe tip I hit a radiator pipe of the central heating. For one or the other reason this was not very well connected, it broke of and oh dear if the water starts running, it does start running. It splashed out and kept on splashing. Really in no time my whole house stood blank. From front door to kitchen. For a moment I totally panicked. In Holland I would already be “oh my god what do I have to do now”, but here I really have no clue. What it even makes worse is that the owners where I rent from (living in the same building) went for the holidays to Lebanon. How on earth to get all the water out???
But thanks god with the villa also comes some staff. It’s quite normal here for a building or a house to have inliving Egyptians who do all kind of outside cleaning, washing cars and the garden. Well this man with his nephew, they are my heroes of the evening, they really saved me tonight. They got all the water out in no-time. A big thank you to them.
It is still running the, water, I cleared out the whole living room and sit in one part of the house now. Tomorrow somebody will come and fix (inshallah)
Am I happy this is NOT happening on Christmas Eve?

Sounds like you thoroughly "washed" the floor!
Hopefully by tomorrow everything will be back to normal. So sorry you had this inconvenience, but it sounds like you're dealing with it very well.

That fitting must have really been flimsy - it was an accident waiting to happen.

this afternoon, two o'clock, everything is normal again. One shutter of the system was not locked well (well found out when the plumber shut it totally this morning), so the whole night the radiator had kept on leaking, so this morning water ballet again. I try to get all the water out myself, but I don't know how they do it, but called the egyptians again, and in 15 minutes how dry again. At nine the plumber came and fixed it the whole things.
But I can assure, my floor is clean, very clean, bright shining clean, also behind the sofa, under the cabinet, all the corners

Well the clean floor thoughts did only come after the water was out. The moment it happened, I could only think IMG how on earth do I get all this water ever out of the room again.

Boy can I understand your dilemna Harma.
When we arrived at my boss's monster home on Christmas Eve - 8000 SF - 9 BR and 8 bath the first floor of the main house had blown the furnace. Guest house (attached) and 2nd floors OK. We finally got heat back on Friday after Christmas. A lot of cuddling and playing pool in the guest house.
Glad everything worked out for you.
