imodium
anyone know why imodium no longer works like it used to for me? i used to be able to take 1 pill and be good for the entire day and even most of the next day. now i take 1 pill and it may help that day but then the next day is not the same? hope this question makes sense.
If you mean that you don't feel well on the second day, you may be developing an intolerance to one of the ingredients in it. I had to stop taking it because it made me dizzy.
If you mean that previously it provided control for 2 days, rather than one, then you are just developing a tolerance for it, which is common for many drugs, and you simply need to increase your dosage. IOW, take one each day, rather than one every 2 days, or take 2 the first day.
Lomitil is another drug that works similarly to Imodium, and some people have better luck with one, when the other doesn't work well, but Lomitil requires a prescription from your doctor.

It is suspected that some of the hardest material known to science can be found in the skulls of GI specialists who insist that diet has nothing to do with the treatment of microscopic colitis.
the second reason you mentioned is what i mean. i guess i will have to try uping the dosage. the past week or so has been worse than it has been in quite some time.....no idea why. staying away from dairy, gf as always. i have done some research on small intestinal bacterial overgrowth and i really do think i have it as well. have thought that for some time but have never really mentioned it to my dr. i think i will have to give him a call...can't hurt right?
