Hi AMP_REP,

Thank you for your thoughtful and courteous response. We certainly don't claim to be immune to the effects of typos, (and various gremlins that somehow alter our typing), on this site, either, but that particular issue somehow struck me as a rather revealing faux pas, when I wrote that initial response. I'm glad that it's been corrected.

With this disease, we are often willing to try virtually anything that offers a glimmer of hope, and since AMP appears to be a safe product, with certain attributes that could be viewed as "soothing" to an inflamed gut, it's certainly not unrealistic to hope that the product might offer some degree of local symptomatic relief, in some IBD cases. However, since it does not address the inflammatory process that causes the disease in the first place, it certainly doesn't qualify as a first-line treatment, and the experience of members here who have tried it, to treat microscopic colitis, seem to reflect that limitation. On this board, (unlike the goal of most available medical treatments), we strive to control the disease, not just the symptoms.

And, as we all know, each year, the placebo effect seems to be gaining momentum, to the extent that in many drug trials, as many as a third of the controls taking placebos, show symptomatic relief that matches, (and sometimes exceeds), the benefits derived from the drug being trialed, thus totally confounding the trial.

Again, thank you for your response.

Tex,

It's especially hard to test for non-drug alternative treatments - it's pretty hard not to know you're getting acupuncture, for example ;) They have tried double-blinding that by having acupuncturists target points that have nothing to do with the condition (but presumably, that could affect another body system not known to be associated with the presenting condition... which, as we know in MC, happens all the time).

I found this quote from the Merck fellow a tad chilling: "To remain dominant in the future," he told Forbes, "we need to dominate the central nervous system."

There's a bad sci-fi movie premise in that!

About me and my UC.

Post by Jesse A. Stockwell »

Hello, my name is Jesse and i am 16 years old. I was diagnosed with UC at the age of 6 and have been struggling with my disease ever since. In early 2006 i was maintaining a healthy lifestyle and i had my UC under control. I changed my diet and started eating things that my stomach did not tolerate and i had a major flare up that landed me in the hospital for 2 days, and i was put on maintenance for 24 hours until they let me go. I had to do an emergency visit to my UC doc so he could prescribe me something to put the fire out. At the age of 11 i was put on 120mg of Prednisone steroids. My symptoms subsided, but the side effects of the steroids were horrible. Some of the side affects of the steroid clouded my judgement and made me violent. Being 11 years old on a powerful steroid was obviously not the right course of action even if it halted my symptoms. After about a month on the steroid, i was taken off of it and prescribed Dipentum (250mg) of 6pills a day. Within 2 weeks my symptoms re appeared. Since the medicine prescribed to me by the doc was not taking any affect even after doubling the dose, we decided to find another doctor. My new doctor (Dr.Gordon) is one of the best UC doctors in the USA. He informed me that the steroids i had taken has stunted my growth and that i should be 3 1/2 inches taller that i was. He put me on a colon coating solution and Canasa (50mg) witch is a healing supplement. After being prescribed both, my symptoms almost vanished within a week! It had been about 5 years being with doctor Gordon and i had 2 flare ups that were quickly taken care of. In early 2011 back in april i had the worst flare of my life. I was going to the bathroom at an average of 12 times a day and i had lost over 18lbs. After a week without any sign of my flare slowing i started to feel strange. I was lying in bed when i started to feel a bit light headed and my breathing became shallow. I felt as if i were going to pass out, so i woke my mother up and asked her to take me to the hospital. Apon getting there, they hooked me up to an IV and started pumping fluids into me. After about 4 hours, they came in to do some tests. Come to find out that i was half dead.... I had lost 2 thirds of my blood, and my iron levels were almost 0. I was on maintenance for over 3 days. I had to have 3 blood transfusions and over 4 qrts of blood pumped into me. Apon getting out of the hospital, i knew something had to change, so i visited my UC doctor, and i asked if there was anything else i could try, so he prescribed me an enema, and that reduced my symptoms to a much lower rate. I spent another week feeling a little better after my symptoms had slowed, but i still did not feel right. So here i am today with a bottle of this amp aloe stuff that my dad bought for me. I am posting here so i can inform you all of my condition throughout my trial of this product. I am praying that this will be the solution to my disease. If i come up with some positive results, i will be sure to tell all of you so you can begin your healing as well. This is day 1 for me trying this product, and ill keep you informed until the end of my treatment. I wish you all good health, and thanks for reading.

(If any of you would like i can take pictures of the product and send you proof of my partake in it).

Sincerely Jesse A. Stockwell

Hi Jesse,

Welcome to the board. I'm sorry that you've had to go through so much health-related suffering, especially at such a young age.

I wish you the best of luck with the AMP treatment, but if you want to turn your UC around, and actually control your symptoms on a long-term basis, (as other members of this board have done), your best bet is to adopt the gluten-free diet, and also avoid all dairy products. There is about a 50-50 chance that you might also be sensitive to soy, in which case you would need to eliminate it from your diet as well.

Other members here have tried aloe-based treatments in the past, without any significant improvement in their symptoms. The diet is the most effective way to treat an IBD, because food sensitivities perpetuate the inflammation, so that whenever you stop taking the drugs, if you are still eating foods that you are sensitive to, you will almost always relapse. A few doctors are beginning to realize that food sensitivities affect IBDs, but they are slow to catch on, and at the moment, very, very few doctors are up to speed on this issue. I can cite medical research references that confirm food sensitivities as a major factor in IBD flares, if you wish to see relevant research reports.

Here's a recent post by a member who has UC, and is controlling his symptoms by diet alone. His food sensitivities are listed below his avatar. This member is slightly older than you, but still quite young:

Again, welcome aboard, and please feel free to ask anything.

Thanks for the warm welcome!

Yes i have heard of that and i was put on a gluten free diet. My symptoms although not as severe were still present. Since my beginning with the aloe extract i find that i have a better appetite and i feel a bit stronger. So all in all, so far i have had a little improvement on my condition. I am hopeful with this natural stuff. I know aloe is a strong healing agent, and i think their might be something to this herbal treatment. I have gained 4 and a half lbs in the last 3 days!!! I don't know if its the aloe stuff, but somethings going right! :) Thanks for the warm welcome Tex. I am and always have been very skinny, and right now i am packing on some extra pounds. I feel a little more healthy and myself every day. I have removed all gluten from my diet and have set reminders on my phone for it. I think ill take your advice and try that out for a while Tex.

Almost forgot...

Post by Jesse A. Stockwell »

I forgot to mention that with aloe gel and certain supplements, their is a burning and irritating side affect from a solution naturally found in the aloe plant. Perhaps this is why so many have had no luck with the supplements they have tried with aloe. With this amp stuff, there is supposed to be no burning stuff in it since its an extract. How do i know this? Well my father was discussing with my doc aloe related treatment like juice and other stuff. The doctor (Glen Gordon) informed him that aloe has a property in it that burns and irritates open wounds/ulcers. Contrary to popular belief, aloe will not help an open wound heal. Raw aloe gel is meant for burns, not wounds. But those are my thoughts! :)

Update

Post by Jesse A. Stockwell »

Been a while since i updated, and i have come across some great results. Original weight was 116lbs, now i weigh 124lbs. Bleeding has stopped, and i have been feeling much much better. I have gained a lot of mussel mass that i have never had in the first place. I have more energy than i had originally, so that is a plus. I am not experiencing any side effects or symptoms that i am aware of. So i conclude that the supplement i have been taking is working well to extinguish my symptoms, and is giving me a physical boost! I have noticed some people saying that the amp site looks like some bull@#$%, but i have placed my order through there, and i received it without any problems. Addressing the testimonials on the site; all i have to say is that if they are real or fake, it dose not matter because it works. I also removed all gluten from my diet. Thanks Tex for that tip there. :cowboy:

Hi all,

I have not joined this forum to 'push' any products.I just wanted to share my experience of taking AMP.
I've been taking AMP for two years now after suffering with Crohn's for many years.
Reading Jesse's posts was similar to what happened for myself.Within the first month my gut pain went away,i started to put weight on for the first time in years.
My Bowel movements improved every day.Less frequent & got firmer until i finally got a normal formed stool with no blood. For years i was so white i looked like a ghost - every day i got pinker & my energy levels improved every day.Month by month my health improved in a way i had never experienced before.
I took methotrexate, azathioprine, steroids, asacol but they never helped me like AMP did.
I no longer suffer with any symptoms Crohn's gave me.I'm in great health now.

Like other members have posted on here i tried aloe juice many years ago but it gave awful gut cramp and put me in the bathroom countless times.
All of those irritants are removed When AMP is extracted from the plant (only my understanding)

None of us will ever have a full understanding of how successful AMP is for IBD unless it is put forward for trial like all the pharma'l drugs are.
Given that Aloe is classed as a food and nobody can ever have patent rights i think it is very unlikely to happen.

I am just so grateful that i found a product which worked so well for me.

Best Wishes to all on this forum

As a new member of this forum, let me say that I'm pretty awed by this thread. It makes me realize two things:

1. There is money to be made from us. People who are suffering are willing to pay to have relief, and there are unscrupulous individuals who will take advantage of that;
2. I'm lucky I found this board. The depth of knowledge, experience, and research that I've found here is like a vaccine against scams. Thank you all!

I was going to ask about AMP FLORACEL, so am glad to see some posts. I started to take it two different times, and both times it DID help. It's rather costly, so I stopped but am seriously thing of buying it again and this time REALLY follow the protocol. I've been trying different probiotics, glutamine, enzymes, and am definetly GF, SF, DF....and only eat bland. I have MC. Not making progress. Am also taking SEACURE (6/D); found pepto awful. on VSL3......just keep my head above water. thank you so much for all your input. most grateful. Judy

I started using AMP FLORACEL Jan. 8th,2012 and now Feb. 8th am consistenly having normal stools!!!! I had been having D 2-3 times per day. Lost a lot of weight. I follow the program exactly as directed. The M.D.,PhD behind has QUITE a background re degrees, and sends a LOT of very specific info and directions. I also do food combining, and use digestive enzymes, probiotics, and systemic enzymes. I'm absolutely thrilled this is working after sooooo long trying so many other things.
