Did not notice hair loss with 11 months of Endocort.

How's your thyroid? Have you had a blood draw recently to check?

Sorry you are having to deal with hair loss. While on asocal, I also had hair loss. After I stopped taking it, most of what I lost came back. I have a low thyroid plus I am on an antidepressant. My psychiatrist recommended I take 400 mcg Selenium a day. He said "sometimes" that helps if the hair loss is from this particular medication. Since I started the Selenium, my hair is not as thin as it was. Hope you find some answers.

I checked with my pharmacist about the asocal and the antidepressants. Hair loss is a rare side affect of all of them. Ouch!

Hi Beni,

It's good to see that the trip went so well. The hair loss is almost certainly associated with the Entocort. Not everyone has that side effect, but some obviously do. For most patients, hair growth usually is restored to normal, as the last of the Entocort passes out of the body, (that can take a while, though).

Welcome back.

I've been taking Entocort on and off for 4 1/2 years and haven't noticed any hair loss. I have pretty thick hair, however, and probably wouldn't notice if I lost any. It seems to me that I have more facial hair growth which may be attributed menopause instead of Entocort.

Since beginning Entocort, I have face waxed. Hoping that subsides.

Hi Beni. If you are pretty sure it's the Entocort, it might be time to try to lower your dose. ( months is a long time at that dosage). Do you get your thyroid levels checked every six months? My dose has had to be adjusted 4 times since stating the drug.

Hair loss is also related to a b9 folate deficiency...

Hi, If you can eat nuts, eat two brazil nuts per day. They are high in selenium. I buy the roasted, unsalted, no shell nuts from "nuts.com". Jon

Joan,

When you post on a 2-year-old thread, you really should point out that you're reincarnating an old thread, otherwise everyone else tends to just assume that it's a current thread. You seem to do this fairly regularly, and it always leads to confusion. Am I the only one who reads the dates on topics and posts?

Beni has been in remission for a couple of years now, and hopefully she's still doing fine.
