The last couple years, I only wash my hair every 3-4 days, per my hairdresser's advice. I use minimal products the first couple days. Some days I go curly and natural. Other days, I use the curling iron or the flat iron.

Sorry, I haven't had any trouble with dry hair since I stopped getting perms. Before that I really never found anything that helped a lot. Stopping the perms was the answer for me.

Sheila,

Sometimes taking a "B" vitamin supplement can help. High cholesterol foods can help, (especially eggs). In the good old days, when everyone had a flock of chickens on the farm, you could always spot the egg-sucking dog, because he had the healthiest, shiniest coat in the bunch.

Also, be aware that hypothyroidism causes dry, brittle hair, and we are approximately 7 times as likely as anyone in the general public, to develop thyroid problems.

my hair (especially the blond parts) are very dry and keep on being dry, soon after any cut. I suspected many things but in the end my conclusion is the sun, moving to a sunnier and warmer country does not do my hair any good.

I am almost back to my own color (dark blond is also from social point of view an "easier" color in an Arab country) and hope this will be sun proof.

Iron deficiency anemia can also cause dry, brittle hair.

I don't have alot of issues with dry hair, once in a while. But when I do I heat some olive oil massage it into my scalp and thru my hair, wrap with some plastic wrap for about 20 min. My hair issue is that the left side of my head is curly and the right side is sraight.

I have dry hair also, but I think it more from the products I use and the blow dryer. I don't think it has anything to do with the MC. I use to use Olive oil. Now I use coconut oil, warmed in the microwave, put on to the roots of my hair cover with a warm towel and wash it out in 20 minutes. My hair is falling out, but I think thats due to the Entocort, I hope!

I have always had very dry hair and skin. I also only wash hair every 3-4 days due to this. Never found a thing that helps unless I use a spray-in conditioner and hate doing that.

I've always had terribly dry skin and a terribly oily scalp. Now that we fully remodeled our home (insulated, new geothermal HVAC with humidifier, etc), my skin could care less whether I apply lotion or not. I've wondered if this is all due to the air quality, or if my near MC-remission and supplements may be involved too.

I lose alot of hair too, but I find if I don't wash my hair daily and my scalp gets too oily, I lose even more. I think the oil clogs the hair follicles and loosens them somehow.
