Any idea's?????
Hi everyone,
Having a rough day - I had extreme gastric reflux last night and today have an awful pain in the diaphram. Think that is the h. hernia. Anyways, I did not take my Nexium yesterday (out til this morning) and have also taken some rolaids.
Anyone have any idea on how to make the *bubble* feeling go away? It is pretty painful!
Throat and esophagus sore from the GERD also.
Thanks! Nothing is helping so far!

Hi Mars
I have that problem too, although right now it is controlled with my prevacid. I take one in the morning and one at night. I have tried to go without and just can't. I was also taking domperidone, 8 a day, but cut that down. Now I just take it when I am having problems once again. The pain can be pretty bad. One time my mother had a particularly bad attack and at the time wasn't being treated, so the medic's that were called thought she was having a heart attack, and treated her for that just in case. They gave her nitro glycerin under her tongue and it helped right away. They found out that it was the hiatal hernia, but they told her at the hospital that the pain you get from that type of hernia can mimic the same pain you get with a heart attack. They said that they can't tell the difference, and the nitro helps open up the area and that is why the pain goes away. And so one particularly bad time I was having at my parents I ended up using my dad's spray under my tongue, and voila, it took the pain away immediatly. I don't know why they don't give it to someone who has a really bad time of though. I just know that it helped me right away. Now since I take the prevacid twice a day, I don't get the pain often, but I also have to make sure I don't over eat. My stomach lets me know right away, the acid reflux can really hurt too. The doctor told me that it is one of the reason I get frequent sore throat episodes. You might want to talk to your doctor about your treatment, maybe its just not enough for you. I also know too, that some people have had an increase in their bowel problems with taking this medication too, so its a hard call. The reason I stopped taking the domperidone as much is that it also causes an increase in lactation or some such thing, and with women, that means we start having prolems with our boobs. Making our breasts think we need to make milk, yup, they also use this drug to help nursing mothers increase their mild production. You also your breasts become sore and enlarge. I decided that I would see if I could do with less, and so far I have only had a few episodes with throwing up, and increase in pain. That is when I take it for a few days. Not sure how it would effect males, but for women, its a side effect that is not welcome. I know this is pretty descriptive, but thought you might want to know some of the things that I have gone through, and it might help you when talking to your doctor about this. Too much reflux can also cause problems with your teeth, and corrode your throat, causing more problems then we need. My doctor increased my pills a few years ago when I first got sick and after they found out I had developed allot of inflamation and ulcers. I just weighed the side effects with how my health was at the time, and I was doing well, so I tried just to go without it a little at a time. So far, so good. But if the pain comes back well I will deal with it then. I hope some of this helps you, and you find a solution for yourself, and you can get rid of the attacks once and for all. Good luck.
Hugs

Hi Mars,
Barbara posted a remedy in this thread:

If gas is the problem, this may help. If the problem is acid burn in your throat and esophagus, though, that's an entirely different matter.
Sorry for wasting your time reading this, if you've already tried that. I hope you can find some relief.

It is suspected that some of the hardest material known to science can be found in the skulls of GI specialists who insist that diet has nothing to do with the treatment of microscopic colitis.

I agree with Wendy. Thank you for taking the time to look that up. I have tried both and am beginning to feel a little better.
And yes, the pain mimicks heart attacks and are extremely painful. I have not had the GERD breakthrough in a long time and I just missed one daily dose. AWFUL. The hernia pain doesn't happen too often either but I think it goes hand in hand with the GERD.
Thanks!

I have a hiatal hernia as well and a chiropractor told me something I can do for it. Sometimes where the escophogus and stomache meet there's a small hole that the stomache can come thru and it hurts. The chiropractor told me to swallow a large glass of water...stand on tippy toes and then drop hard on my flat feet. To do this a few times. It works some of the time...but I usually drink green tea...love peppermint but peppermint relaxes the muscle around the escophgus too much and allows the stomache to get into the same situation. Green tea is great for bags under the eys (tea Bags) works on swelling and toothache. I drink green tea after every meal. Love Oma
May I be more compassionate and loving than yeterday*and be able to spot the idiots in advance
