Diagnosis - Plurisy
Here is the informationv from a google: The major symptom of dry pleurisy is a sharp, stabbing pain towards the side and lower part of the chest. The pain may also be felt along the shoulders, neck and abdomen. Any movement involving the chest, such as breathing or coughing, will aggravate the pain, which may be accompanied by shortness of breath, a dry cough, and fever. No fever and only cough is from smoking - normal for me.
Some cases are due to certain gastrointestinal tract diseases, particularly of the liver and pancreas, which can inflame the diaphragm (the large muscle separating the chest and abdominal cavities) and the portions of the pleurae that cover the diaphragm.
Mmmmmmmm, isn't this interesting.
He gave me a low-dose anti-inflamatory drug called Mobic - of the NSAID family. I am to take half the normal dose (due to the CC) and let him know if it isn't working. Then he will give me a low dose narcotic for the pain.
It is now on both sides of my chest - mainly in the shoulder and neck area but does radiate down my arm - no strength or it hurts to use them. Not good when my favorite past time is to type right here!
I'm off to eat some chili from Wendy's again. Hopefully it won't bother me. I don't feel like cooking and don't have any leftovers from the weekend. I'll post any problems in my journal.

Sounds very painful, Mars. At least you know what it is now and I hope the low dose NSAID will do the trick. Any idea how long pleurisy might last??
I shouldn't have asked that. I'll look it up. Since it is painful for you to type you should probably just be a lurker for a while.
Take care,
Love, Shirley

Hey Mars
So sorry!! Very painful condition. Did they xray or do ultrasound? Sometimes lying on the affected side will ease the pain a little. Did you say you are a smoker? That will definitely not help so if you are, try to cut back. Sending you healing light. Love & light, Rita

The lady (Mars) is in PAIN and you are calling it a walk in the park. I guess Canadian women are a tough breed.
Love the braids. Is this a Pippi Longstocking makeover? Is that the explanation for the green stocking? Good one!! Where is the horse? I'll believe you're Pippi when I see you lifting the horse.
You girls are very special.
Love,
Karen

Hi Margie,
I've had it. People with lupus or other autoimmune diseases get it: it's another place your autoimmune system can choose to mess with (the lining of the lungs or heart.) Do you have low thyroid, a rash on your cheeks, chronic fatigue, muscle or joint aches, anemia, a reaction to the sun like hives or itching or flu? Abnormal ANA or high white blood cell count? Just checking... Two weeks is nothing, walk in the park. You ROCK.
Love, Marsha

Haven't had Plurisy... but had pneumonia at Christmas time along with shingles. No one could figure out why the neuronton wasn't killing the pain from the shingles... til the family doc figured out I had broken a rib... neuronton wouldn't kill that pain! Broken rib was in same place as the shingles rash... Went on lortab and phenargen and got rid of the pain and the side benefit was remission... most people get constipated on lortab.. but it made me "normal"...LOL
