Home Again

Post by kate_ce1995 »

Well, yesterday was a beautiful day...warm sunshine (about 70), very nice wedding ceremony, beautiful bride (the groom is pretty cute too), and a nice reception. She arrived at the church in a horse drawn carriage, and left in the same. She is big into horses. My uncle survived walking Marie down the aisle with his ex-wife, and sat between her and my Aunt through the whole ceremony. Its so nice when people who have had differences can put their differences aside when its someone elses day in the spot light.

We took our time coming back today stopping at crafty shops and flea markets. Everytime I got to a craft show though, I wish I had more time to do my crafts.

Well, gotta go take care of Tigs (he got into a fight last week and is getting some battle wounds peroxided...but they are healing well).

Hope you all are having relaxing weekends.

OK, I've gotta ask, because I've never seen that before, and I've photographed and videotaped a lot of weddings over the years. Did I misread that, or are you saying that both parents gave the bride away, (or at least walked her down the aisle)? If so, is that a New England custom, or are we just out of step down here in Texas?

Just curious,
Wayne

P S Sorry to hear it's so cold up there--it's predicted to be 102 here today. LOL.

As a matter of fact, I am, (staying inside with an ac, that is).

I don't think we're gonna make that temperature--the thermometer here is only showin' 100. Austin, just south of us, is showing 104 right now, though--hotter than it's been all summer, I suspect.

HI Katy. It sounds like a wonderful wedding. According to my daughter, and others, both parents walking the daughter down the Isle is the new thing to do when her parents are divorced. That is what my daughter, Amanda has planned for her father and me. As for him knowing that yet, well that has yet to be done. Since he doesn't talk to his girls much, we don't even know if he will come, we are just hoping he can put aside his whatever's and be there for her. Its her day, and we should do whatever she wants to make it a special one that she can look back on fondly.

I also wanted to say I hope Tigs is doing okay. Although Pebbles has not been in any fights, because of her allergies, I am constantly having to take care of her skin. It is now 4 baths since the skunk incident, and she still has an odour. And pray that your kitties never get sprayed, as it would be pure hell trying to get the smell out of their fur, let alone covering them with tomatoe juice. Oh, I would not want you to go through that! I had to laugh at Mel, who just got a little Persian male kitten in August, when she was telling me about trying to bath him!!! She did not know that cats don't like to be bathed. LOL She found that out pretty quickly.

It sounds like a wonderful trip back to your home. I use to love doing that, taking your time, stopping and checking out different little stores. I have so many crafts, and I do have the time to do them, just not the energy, and I feel the same way. Although a much different reason. But even though you don't get the time as often as you would like, you did do a wonderful job on your quilt. Doesn't matter how long it took, the fact that you got it done is the main thing. What is it that you would like to do if the time becomes available?

Hugs

Yeah, I think it was a way to honor both parents since they divorced "officially" when she was about 2. I think they separated shortly after the birth. She was only with her father every other weekend and lived with her mom so I'm sure it was because her mom was such a huge part of her life (not that moms aren't always, but you know what I mean). They walked on either side of her down the aisle. Very nice.

102? I'll take my nice fall New England weather. Thanks.

Hubby is in Baytown....problem at store here

Post by annie oakley »

Mike said the town of Baytown didn't look too bad. Most of the power is still out. Resturants aren't open and niether are the grocery store. He said they took food and water with them. But there may be something open tomorrow. Yesterday they were refuelling the gas stations there. He said he will stay there as long as they have stuff for them to do. I admire his willingness to help...But I'd like him home. Feel as if I am living alone lately.
We finally got gasoline today at the store. But we have a computer malfunction and the pumps won't pump and the pumps wpn't authorize to be turned on....we have called corporate...let them fix it. Meanwhile we lose business. People need fuel. So they get it where they can...I don't blame them at all.
I had a deer this am decide to try and commit suicide and nearly jump over the hood of the truck. I swerved, she went the other way thank goodness. Then I got past where the Turkeys cross the highway everyday, on my way home, and lo and behold they had switched thier route, natually they came out as I was passing. I screeched to a hault...I would hate to hit one.
Then I get home and saw a skunk trying to hide in the old colasped house out here and grabbed a gun....MISSED! I swear I need My eyes checked. I keep a pistol and a shot gun by the door. Og course Buck is barking the whole time and making me nervous.
Well need to go for now. Love to all. Love Oma
May I be more compassionate and loving than yeterday*and be able to spot the idiots in advance

It really sounds like you are a ways from civilization Oma. I would be keeping a pistol or gun around too. Having also encountered a skunk via Pebbles I fully understand you not wanting the skunk around too. I joked with my landlords that I thought the skunk that sprayed Pebbles is one and the same skunk that I found swimming in the pool last year. I think that the skunk fell in by mistake, as I heard a plop, and went over to investigate what the sound was, and low and behold, there was the skunk. That was in the middle of the night, and I had to take Pebbles out constantly throughout the night as she had the runs. It stayed till early morning, that is once it found the steps so that it could get out. I thought it was dead, since it stayed at the top of the steps just laying there for about 4-5 hours. Pebbles was not feeling that great and didn't even notice, thank goodness. But of course I didn't attempt to get rid of it, I stayed at the other end of the yard with Pebbles. But that is why I joked about it being the same skunk that sprayed Pebbles last week. I don't hink I would have anyway, its not there fault that they spray anything that they think might harm them, its the way they are made. And they really are cute, on the other hand I do not want to have to go through that again. I gave Pebbles her fourth bath this afternoon, and she STILL has a slight odour. I just worry about it really drying out her skin and causing her to itch even more then she does now with her allegies. I have have been putting on a natural tea tree oil that is made for dogs with skin problems. Lets hope it continues to help her.

Good night then,

Hugs
