Its alive - Caution: GRAPHIC

Post by Missing Healthy »

So I tried to find my answer on Google but failed so now I have to horrify all of you. What I am about to describe is graphic. I have MC. I only drink on special occasions (vodka) and have been able to tolerate it. Had 2 drinks last night and it messed my stomach up a little today. I accepted this and know its probably from the alcohol. But then 3rd trip to the bathroom this morning I looked down into the bowl and saw some of the stuff that came out of me was very disturbing. Two things were floating, one fluffy (I assume yeasty) ball of poo, and one translucent veiny layer of skin. It looked like when you peel a layer of dried Elmers glue off your hand but with a yellow tint and had veins. I poked it with a Q tip to see if it was just a pool of oil or something but it was a solid, like skin. If are still reading this and aren't vomiting just wait it gets better. These 2 floating objects were moving irradiccally with little bits "exploding" off of them and then eventually stopped. Now the way I see there's only 2 things that could be going on here. Either there were things alive in my stool that were fighting for their lives and then died. Or there was some powerful gas trapped in there and was exploding with the pressure change and stopped when all was released.

I have had this happen to me before but it was when I was very sick and I honestly though I was hallucinating because I actually was seeing things from deficiencies (I think). Now I know its real and am wondering if this is normal for us MCers or should I talk to the doc about this. Or maybe the government to check my body aliens.

Hi Missing,

Believe it or not, descriptions such as that are sort of routine on this site.

Your doctor probably wouldn't believe you, unless to provided the evidence, (and he or she might still claim that you were faking). One or two members have described similar events, previously, (presumably unrelated to the consumption of alcohol). It's possible that you might have seen a layer of "congealed" mucus, since the intestines sometimes produce copious amounts of mucus during a flare, in order to try to protect the delicate surface of the mucosa. Entrapped gas is pretty common with MC, so I suppose it could possibly cause an effect of the sort that you described.

Vodka is gluten-free, and shouldn't normally cause an MC reaction, but alcohol is a primary cause of intestinal permeability, (leaky gut syndrome), which is often associated with IBD reactions.

Thanks Tex. Just needed to be reassured.

On an unrelated note I found this TED talk today and it describes how I feel MC changed me for the better. Could be useful for newcomers that need a little courage.

It's nice to know I'm not alone in the use of Q-tips for up close investigations. Hope you're feeling better.

LOL! Gads I love this site. To know I am not the only one to observe and even stir my movements in the toilet bowl! The most shocking thing in my first year of figuring out safe foods was to spot a whole slice of mushroom intact and in one piece floating in the bowl! What did I do? swallow it whole and not chew it?!

Hi Cory,

To this day I cannot eat a mushroom - no matter how much I masticate it - that does not come out whole. The mystery of MC.

Love, Maggie
