Was prescribed cholestrymine and too it for many years with mixed results. It helped somewhat and after not being able to leave the house for some time I was able to carry on a semblance of a normal life. The diagnosis was that I suffered with non specific colitis caused by over production of bile salts. Had a colonoscopy every 2 years to keep an eye on things. Also taking Colofac for some years and still am.

Then July 2001 the wheels fell completely off. I developed violent D and after biopsy was diagnosed with CC. Prednisone for 4 months helped enornously and also made me quite fat, especially face and tummy. Aches and pains diminished some. Had another shorter period on the Pred which quietened things down again for a while. The D never completely went away but I was able to function OK.

Take Lomotil, imodium or Gastrostop for extra protection when I am going out.

Was prescribed Entocort and have it on hand but am resisting the temptation to use it. It is after all still cortisone and the Pred has affected my bone density. On the borderline of developing Osteoporosis.
