Blood Test Results (cholesterol)

Post by starfire »

Total Cholesterol - 210 (down from 324 - I had thought 354 - sorry)
LDL ---------------- 126 (down from 211)
HDL --------------- 46 (up from 40)

I'm so pleased!!! I am taking Zetia and I'm sure that helped but I know the diet helped a lot too. My doctor said the same.

Just wanted to tell everyone!!!

Shirley!

That's incredible improvement and in such a short time! You should be proud of yourself! What is zetia?

Keep up the good work!

Love,

Polly

It's a drug for high cholesterol that is supposed to block the absorbtion of dietary cholesterol. The research I did on it seemed to imply that it works much better in conjunction with something like Lipitor rather than being taken alone. I didn't want to take Lipitor or any of the others. I wasn't sure if it would do the trick by itself but I figured it would probably help bring it down some.

I still think the diet helped. It had to.

Wow! You continue to make medical history!

Drugs don't work that well--not by themselves, anyway. If they did, all the pharmaceutical companies wouldn't be constantly searching for better formulations--everything would already be under control.

You make it look too easy. LOL.

It is suspected that some of the hardest material known to science can be found in the skulls of GI specialists who insist that diet has nothing to do with the treatment of microscopic colitis.

I am truly amazed, Wayne. I continue to be amazed that I'm staying on the diet as good as I am and not minding it an awful lot either. It has to be that I finally just got into the right frame of mind somehow and just went with it. Oh, how I hope I can get my Mom going on it and my sister too!! I don't dare hope for Bill but *shrug" who knows. Never thought I'd get there either.

Shirley,

WooHooo. Right on Shirley!! Curious, diid you or your doctor expect to see this much impovment since your last check?

Your right, it's probably a combination of the med and the good eating your doing these days. Keep up the good work!!! I'm glad your doing so well.

Joanna,

My doctor seemed quite surprised all the way around. I think I made her day!!

As for me, I was just hoping to see enough improvement so I didn't get hounded to go on Lipitor - I wasn't expecting to see it almost normal.
I'm hoping now, though, that next time it WILL be super good and I'll go off the Zetia. Perhaps I will before then anyway. I bet it's not good for me -

Shirley you have done well. Know what you mean about Lipitor. I could not tolerate it. It made me feel really ill and my whole body was sore and acheing.

Love
