lactose
has anyone ever heard of a lactose breath test to see if you are sensitive to lactose. i tested negative for casein but was wondering about the lactose. Also i saw lactose free milk in the store today. Has anyone tried it?

I have heard of the lactose breath test and had a date scheduled to take it, in the mean time I eliminated lactose and felt so much better I decided I didn't need the test to confirm. From what I understood you drink lactose and breath in a machine every so many minutes for a reading.
I do use Lactaid milk so do most members of my family, they like it better the real milk. I use it in all my cooking that requires milk. I didn't care much for Blue Diamond, I thought it was too sweet, just my opinion though.

I've taken the hydrogen breath test twice through my family doctor & it was covered by my health insurance. It involves drinking a glass of chalky tasting liquid and breathing into a device at regular intervals over a three hour period of time. My first test was ended early because the numbers confirmed it. Although, the lab reports were conflicting- some areas said I was lactose intolerant and others areas said I wasn't. The second test a few years later came back negative. I tried lactaid and it didn't do much. I've been DF since January when I got my enterolab tests back. Milk wasn't hard to give up but I still miss cheese, yogurt, and ice cream. I don't miss the stomach aches, gas/bloating etc that came with it.
