Question about Gas-X

Post by kristinef »

I take a lot of Gas-X to relieve the bloating. Sometimes I feel like a balloon and the Gas-X helps. Do I need to be concerned about any of the ingredients? Does anyone else take Gas-X?

Active Ingredient: simethicone 125 mg.
Nonmedicinal ingredients: calcium phosphate, D&C Red No. 30, D&C Yellow No. 10, dextrose, flavor, maltodextrin and silicon dioxide.

Hi Kristine! I used to take Beano due to gas. When I really started to get sick with MC I blew up and swelled up so bad I looked preggers. It was amazing. I've recently been taking Benadryl for mast cells issues and I don't have the gas I used to the swelling has been reducing as well. I'm sure someone who knows more than I will be along to address your question about Gas-X but I sure know the problem!

Good luck!

Hi Kristine,

The gas and bloating, of course, is a result of incomplete digestion, and various food-sensitivities fermenting in your intestines. That problem should resolve after you get your inflammation under control. In the meantime, unless you happen to be sensitive to one of the dyes, or whatever "flavor" happens to be, the product should be generally safe for you.

It is suspected that some of the hardest material known to science can be found in the skulls of GI specialists who insist that diet has nothing to do with the treatment of microscopic colitis.

Hi Kristine,
I have been taking extra strength Gas-x almost daily for over a year with no adverse affect. I read somewhere that it isn't harmful to even take a little more than recommended dosage. In fact gas has been my primary symptom with constipation since the onset of "d" after antibiotic. I had abdominal scan to rule out gallbladder prior to my colonoscopy. I have just recently gave in to the gluten free diet and it has only been about 5 weeks so hoping to have some relief soon through diet alone. My bloating and pressure when the LC started was almost unbearable.

Take care,
Sondra

There is hope Lesley. I've had the same problem for over a year and as I gradually figure out what my problems are and address them I am just now beginning to fit back into some of my cloths and live more comfortably without all the bloating and gas. I can see my toes again! :0)

(((hugs)))
