What Tex says, suspect soy next. Even though two allergists (father and son) said it doesn't happen like that, it sure did for me.

When I first went GF, I could eat Van's waffles but after a few months I could not. I suspected soy because of the experiences of the PP and EnteroLab test confirmed my suspicion.

Thanks for the insight, Joan. It helps to hear someone experiencing something similar. My husband has been eating Schar bread, which has some soy, so as of today it's out. Here's hoping.

Have you tried Udi's bread? It contains tapioca and eggs, (which some of us react to), but it's free of gluten, dairy, and soy. You should be able to find it locally.

No, we haven't. I was all set to buy it, then noticed it contained eggs, which my husband is avoiding. I noticed on Whole Foods' website that they carry Food for Life brand bread. Can you shed any light its quality?

Well, they offer a selection without eggs and soy, but the trouble with a lot of breads made from restricted ingredients, is that they taste like cardboard, or something similar. I would try a single loaf, before stocking up, because I don't recall anyone here ever recommending that brand. I've never tried it, but I stopped eating bread, years ago.

Rudy's bread, not Udi's, is excellent. Does not taste like cardboard. I find Udi's to be too dense for my liking.

I've heard that Rudi's bread has better palatability, but it still won't work for many members, because it contains eggs, yeast, and xanthan gum, and the original version contains inulin. It's a pretty good product for those who can tolerate it, though.

I haven't tried Rudi's yet. My grocery store carries Udi's and I like the white sandwhich bread. It toasts very nicely. I don't care for it untoasted. I don't care for the price either ($5.99) for such a small loaf.

I made Dee's french bread over the weekend, posted under recipes. It turned out fantastic, and it was super easy.
