Low cortisol and entocort

Post by Christine »

Has anyone here had the experience of having low cortisol and Entocort not being effective? Initially I was on prednisone and Entocort for an overlap of ten days. During that time I had great energy and felt back to normal, but now that I've been on just the Entocort for two weeks it's back to D. My current doctor is resistant to put me on Cortef, but I really think I need it. I think the adrenals are shot from years of bad eating . Has anyone else had adrenal fatigue issues while having a flare?

Hi Christine,

I haven't taken either of those medications, but I do know that prednisone severely depresses cortisol production, and it can take a while for that process to return to normal. At only 39, it's unlikely that eating habits have severely damaged your adrenals, but, of course, it's not impossible that something may have happened to interfere with your ability to produce normal amounts of cortisol.

Actually, it's rather common to experience symptoms that suggest adrenal problems, while MC is active. Fatigue, lethargy, aches, pains, stiffness, depression, brain fog, etc., were pretty much everyday problems for me, before I recovered. Many others here, have reported the same problems. Not everyone has these symptoms, but most of us do. They're common with the leaky gut syndrome.

The bottom line is, if you're like most of us, after you get your MC symptoms under control, your adrenal issues will be gone.

It is suspected that some of the hardest material known to science can be found in the skulls of GI specialists who insist that diet has nothing to do with the treatment of microscopic colitis.
