Peptones protocol
when you use pepto to treat LC can you use the liquid or does it have to be the chewables. also I keep reading different amounts to take. My GI said 3 chewables 3x daily, but I've also read 2 chewables 8x daily. anyone have any ideas?
Hi Christine,
The original treatment calls for 8 or 9 tablets per day, or the equivalent, using the liquid form, for 8 weeks. 16 a day would be a lot, and at that dosage rate, it might be possible to build up a toxic level of bismuth before the 8-week treatment was completed. Some people are sensitive to either the bismuth subsalicylate, or one of the inactive ingredients, so they can't even tolerate the treatment using 8 or 9 per day.

It is suspected that some of the hardest material known to science can be found in the skulls of GI specialists who insist that diet has nothing to do with the treatment of microscopic colitis.
