Natural D-Hist

Post by Kari »

A couple of days ago I visited a new PCP, since I changed insurance providers from Kaiser to Aetna. She recommended taking "Natural D-Hist" as her patients have given her a lot of positive feed-back on it. It is made by OrthoMolecularProducts, and the ingredients are as follows:

Vitamin C
Quercetin
Stinging Nettles Leaf
Bromelain
N-Acetyl-L-Cysteine USP

Other ingredients: Natural Vegetable Capsules
May contain one or more of the following:
Calcium Silicate
Magnesium Stearate
Microcrystalline Cellulose
Silicon Dioxide
Stearic Acid

I hesitate to take it at this point in time as I'm doing reasonably well, but was wondering if any of you have tried it or heard of it. It might be a good option for those of you having trouble with the traditional antihistamines.

Love,
Kari

P.S. I was pleased with my visit, as she focuses on preventive medicine (diet and exercise) and "Natural Remedies" such as the above.

I have heard really good things on all of those for mast cell issues. I was actually looking into getting it myself!

Interesting, Kari. I don't want to "rock the boat" right now by trying it, but I'll be interested in reports from anyone who does.

Kari, my alternative med doc uses this brand in her recommendations. I am going to check with the pharmacy to see if they carry it and I might try it.

Ginny - hope you find it and it actually helps you - please let us know. My PCP gave me a sample packet of 10, but I'm holding off on trying it since Histame and imodium (when I need it) seem to be helping me for now.

Kari
do you react to soy? i would double check the ingredients of the vegetable capsule. they can contain maize as well.

I am taking some homeopathic drops for allergy desensitisation and it has some of the same ingredients
in my case i handle drops/liquids much better.

and a big WOO HOO for preventative approach.... finding a practitioner who takes that approach is a great find

Hi Gabes - so nice to hear from you  .

To answer your question, fortunately, I seem to be fine with soy - neither Enterolab nor MRT showed sensitivity. And, yes, it's so nice to have found a PCP who "gets it". She seems to be well established in private practice, so I'm hoping she will be around for a long time to come, and that our relationship will grow over time.

I'm sure I present quite a challenge as a patient - the first question she asked me after I gave her my "introduction speech about my health" was if I worked in the medical profession  . I've learned an enormous amount about how to safeguard my health from my PP family - the knowledge base here is phenomenal. She told me that she believes that we each have to be our own advocate - hearing her say that was like music to my ears :).

Love,
Kari

I just discovered that "Bromelain " is from the pineapple family and that is a RED on my MRT. So this won't work for me.......too bad!
