Is there an app for that?

Post by kristinef »

I just bought a new iPad3. I'm wondering if anyone here has found an app that they recommend for living with food sensitivites? Good restaurant finders / shopping guides? How about a food diary? Have you found such a thing for the iPad?
Thanks!

Kristine there are a bunch of apps out there and I do have a couple on my iPad. I have gluten free registry which is a world wide listing of GF restaurants with user reviews of the facility and I also have bathroom finder.

A good general purpose recipe app is "All Recipes"

There are plenty of other good apps, just go to the 'app store' icon and once there search for gluten free and you will get hundreds.

If you find any good ones be sure to let us know

Welcome to the iPad crowd, these things are great.

I subscribe to Gluten Free Delight magazine, and they have an app. I like the magazine because it lists recipes and classifies which are also SF, DF, EF etc. They have features about GF restaurants as well.

I was in Philadelphia this weekend, and read about a site, www.glutenfreephilly.com, in case anyone is in that area or plans to visit. Haven't had time to check it out yet.

My suggestion is for the grocery store app that scans and stores the prices so you can compare costs and create a spreadsheet for the extra cost of your special dietary needs.

Thanks for the inputs everyone. I found one tonight called "iPee Address". Very cute name. It shows me restrooms near my current location (it must be using GPS). But I'm planning a trip up to Malibu tomorrow and it won't show me restrooms at my destination. Not sure if I'm not using the app correctly or there aren't any restrooms around.

So far I love the iPad. Typing is a challenge (slow / lots of typos). But it is ideal for navigating maps and reviewing photos.

I have an app called "is that gluten free?". It cost about $4.00 but it lists most chain restaurants. I think you are from So. California and so am I so I know there are some that would be of interest. Of course with multiple food sensitivities it's not foolproof.
