UTI

Post by Lesley »

Feeling horrible. Tests all screwy.
I hope this is not going to become a problem again. I haven't been taking HRT for a while now. Polly warned me that they can cause diarrhea. I need to make an appointment with my OBGYN to see if I am developing vaginal atrophy again.
I won't take antibiotics until a culture is done, so that practically guarantees a horrible weekend.
It's going to be a nice one weather wise, but I won't be able to go to the pool.

Can you drink cranberry juice? I've been worried about that myself with the sometimes unsanitary state of my panties. I don't know the leakage is there until I go to the restroom. My tote bag keeps getting bigger.

Not pure, and that's the only one that MAY help. Apart from the effect on my gut it's SO sour it's hard to swallow. The others have all sorts of additives, and a low % of cranberry juice, not enough to help.

I ALWAYS wear a pad, so panties are clean. Discharge doesn't mean UTI. If you have one you'll know it. Urinating is agonizing, and there is a smell. Right now I am not sure what is causing lower abdomen pains. It could be the UTI rather than MC.

My creatinine is too high. That is a worrying number. Waiting to hear from my doc.

Lesley,
I take the cranberry pills often to prevent or help get rid of a UTI. Drinking the juice doesn't usually help plus I am diabetic so I don't need the extra sugar! Good luck.

I used to get them so often I was on antibiotics 1-2x a month. I don't take them until there is a culture showing what drug it's sensitive to. I will get some pills to try to prevent the next one.
Thanks Brenda!

Check the ingredient list on those cranberry pills. I didn't notice the soy in the pills I had been taking for months. They were two bottles for the price of one and I think that was what I was paying attention to and the printing for the list of ingredients is so very, very small. At any rate, they do help and it's worth a try. Hope you feel better. UTI's are horrible.

I used to get UTIs all the time, but haven't had any since I've gone on a low-histamine diet. They are awful and very painful. I keep a supply of Cipro on hand just in case I get an infection. I've spent too many times in the doctor's office waiting for them to verify that I have one. I know when I have one.

I tried drinking unsweetened cranberry juice, but then the MRT test showed that I was highly intolerant to cranberries.

I hope you feel better, Lesley.

I don't do the cipro thing because there have been times an infection has been resistant and I have to take something else.

Yes, they are, and the results of the culture won't be back till after the weekend.

Thanks Gloria
