leaving for Thailand
I take off for Thailand tomorrow, with rather more fear and trembling than I expected. MC-wise, the past two days have been the worst in a long time. While I haven't been consistently having normans, this is the first time I've had WD in quite a while. So I'm armed with Depends, and that prompted a change in travel clothes, from slacks to a loose skirt. They don't make Depends small enough for skinny people with MC! I bought the smallest size, but they're still too big. I have Imodium in my purse, and plan to take some before leaving for the airport.
Okay, I know I sound crabby and nervous. I am. But I know that it will be wonderful to be with the kids and grandkids once I get there.
I'll be off the board for a while, but I'll let you know how the trip went when I get back.
Love to you all!
Martha

Martha,
A brief self-taught crash course in meditation techniques might be in order, ASAP, because that's something that you can do at any time, just about anywhere, including on the plane. (And it's a method of stress relief that has a proven track record of effectiveness). Surely there are some online sites that offer guidelines to give you a quick start.
I hope you can regain the upper hand on your symptoms, so that the trip will go as smoothly as possible, and you'll be able to enjoy it without undue anxiety or problems.
Best of luck to you, and to all your family, with everything that's going on.
Love,
Tex

Hi Martha,
I'll be thinking about you and praying that all goes well on your travels. As we all know, stress can reek havoc on our digestive systems, so chances are everything will calm down when you get settled at your destination .
Have a wonderful trip and all the best to you and and your growing circle of loved ones. There is nothing more precious than a "new life" coming into this world .
Love,
Kari

Martha, I agree with everyone. The travel will be the challenge but the visit will be great. You'll be in a beautiful country with your loved ones-- what could be better. Just eat simply and get back to the basics of your diet if you need to. I also strongly agree with meditation and calming yourself.
Best of luck,
Carol

I hope things settle down once you're on your way. I never considered that Depends would be too large for the petite ones among us. I hope you don't need them, but they are nice as a backup.
Good luck and enjoy the new grandchild and family.

Have a wonderful trip Martha. I am so envious since my grandchildren (3) are in England and I never see them and probably will not in the future since our son is now separated from his wife and no going back for them. As well as him dealing with his mental condition. Not a happy time for hubby and me.
Treasure every moment with them and you will do just fine on the flight.
Love, Maggie

I made it to Thailand without incident. I was overly careful, and took an imodium at every gurgle, so I ended up taking 4 imodium in 30 hours and it stopped me up good. I am just now getting back to normal. But the trip went well.
China Airlines did a great job with the gf meals. They checked with me at the beginning of each flight, and served my meal first. I didn't eat a lot of any of the meals, lest they contain some dairy or soy. They did truly look gluten free--plain chicken, carrots and broccoli, and rice and potatoes. And fresh fruit and a salad. I ended up eating very little of the food I carried with me. I wasn't hungry, so that helped.
I am staying in Bangkok. We haven't strayed much from the house, since the baby isn't here yet, and DIL has been having contractions for a week.
Thanks for all your good wishes on the trip. I hope the flight home goes as well.

I am glad to hear your trip to Thailand was less eventful than it could have been. Well wishes to new grand baby, and for your trip home. Hope you have a great time while there.

Martha,
I'm glad you got there without incident. It was probably stressed that caused you to have D before you left. I know I ran into the a little problem and truely believe it was caused by stress. I hope you continue to do well on your trip.
Tex, you are right, I think learing some type of calming meditation may help. I am going to look into that.
