Use Of Sunscreens Associated With Endometriosis

Post by tex »

Hi All,

In addition to evidence showing that the use of sunscreens is associated with an increased risk of cancer (including skin cancer) and immune system weakening due to lowered vitamin D production on the skin, researchers have found that the use of sunscreens leads so an increased risk of developing endometriosis.

I can't help but wonder if lowered vitamin D levels might also play a role in that issue.

It is suspected that some of the hardest material known to science can be found in the skulls of GI specialists who insist that diet has nothing to do with the treatment of microscopic colitis.

You would think, that living all my life in the "Valley of the Sun" I would use sunscreen, but I never have. Hate the smell, hate the feel.
Tex, have you ever heard of astaxanthin? My PA recommended it to me and after researching it a bit, I found it quite interesting! Apparently a powerful antioxidant, 65 times more powerful than Vitamin C and 54 times more powerful than beta-carotene. Amazing for eye health and inflammation! Rave reviews on Amazon, especially with elimination of joint pain. I would be interested in your views on this. Thanks!

I've never used sunscreen either, but unfortunately, I've never heard of astaxanthin, so I don't know anything about it.

My son works at the pool for the summer- I've always been after him to keep with the sunscreen. Which is the safer route? Sun screen or no sun screen?

Well, if he's going to sit in the sun, or in the reflected glare from the water for hours at a time wearing only trunks, he may benefit from sunscreen, at least part of the time. As long as he doesn't burn, he's OK without it. It's sunburn that raises the risk of melanoma. Sun exposure without burning is healthy.

Ok- thanks! He's good with what he's doing then. He's fortunate to be able to get a nice brown tan unlike me who stays white all year round and would only burn. He uses it when he's by the pool all day.
