Hi

Yes, It was actually the first food that caused me trouble I was told its like sandpaper on our very inflamed insides. Also, iceberg is the worst.

Once I healed I slowly started to add it back into my diet, but only romaine with the ribs removed or Boston lettuce. I think some of the spring mixes may be OK, I just haven't tried them yet. The one to stay away from is iceberg.

I avoided salad for a long time. You have to while you are healing because it really iritates. Now I eat arugula, spring mix, baby spinach, and even baby kale for salads. No iceberg, unless it's the wrap for a burger.

no lettuce for me, but I'm hoping to try it again soon. It's a good thing that iceberg has always been my least favorite. Baby Romaine is the one I like :)

Just curious. Why is iceberg bad and the romaine and spring mixes OK? Aren't the latter tougher than iceberg? The spring mixes are hard on me but I haven't eaten iceberg in ages. It just seems so boring to me. Butter lettuce works pretty well for me.

I have found that "soft" lettuces are usually OK for me. I haven't eaten iceberg in many years, because it is so bland, tasteless and watery and doesn't seem worth eating to me. Romaine is dicey, and I always cut out the "spine." Other than that, as long as I avoid hard spines and stems, greens seem to be OK. I eat cooked and raw spinach, cooked chard and kale with little problem. Over the last number of months, I have had a B-12 deficiency that requires injections, so I feel like my body needs the greens even if I have a little, mostly controllable, distress.

Yes, I don't eat lettuce or any raw vegetables for that matter.
