the book is memoir of his mis-diagnosed health issues IBS, Chronic Fatigue, ongoing dental issues and Arthritis (sound familiar anyone???) and how he got his health and fitness back.
whilst on tour in the states, it was a Chicago based chiropractor that correctly diagnosed and treated Anthony
i am still reading the book, but this section about inflammation i thought was very interesting.
an adaption from the book:
.Dr stoxen says that inflammation is the tool of the devil
Inflammation causes constant pain, the aches, the brain fog - you feel like you have got a bit of a cold all the time. Chemically inflammation is like a poison, it is a poison, it is a toxin that flows through your system causing cells to become distressed. It causes pain, exhaustion, and contributes to feelings of hopelessness. Inflammation is one of the greatest accelerants in the aging process
he went on to say that many doctors feel that chronic inflammation is the more logical contributing factor to heart disease than high cholesterol
I share this as it highlights more than ever that the first important goal if you have an any health issue not just an IBD, is to eliminate the inflammation, figure out what is causing it and nuture and treat the body to elminate the inflammation.
inspired by what i am reading i have started seeing a chiropractor (it is a kinesiology based chiropractor) who is being very cautious with his treatments given my inflammation levels. i am seeing some good results (i have had 3 apts) just like MC can affect whole of body, whole of body issues can cause inflammation and exacerbate the digestion....
(i wonder if MC flares are when there is too much inflammation in the body?? ie a food causing inflammation of the digestion or another health issue causing inflammation elsewhere in the body?)
on a side note, some trivia... before they were the wiggles, in the late 80's the guys were a rock band called the Crockroaches... I was 18 and living in Sydney and me and my friends would rush home from work on thursdays and fridays so we could get to whatever suburb pub or venue they were playing at...
