I think it is because the board is not realy open yet. The only reason we can get on is because Tex gave us moderator status to check it out. I think that will soon change

Peg,

Well, because they are. They show locked to me, also, but they seem to work ok. This could be a glitch with closed forums that the authors will take care of with later upgrades of the software.

Matthew,

No, I believe we will have to operate like this, if we want to operate in closed mode. If I unlock this forum, anyone in the world can see it, and sign up to post on it. Maybe we'll learn otherwise as we slowly learn the ropes, here.

Things appear locked to me as well. I see no way to reply or create a new thread. Though I can quote a post and reply.

Hi Mike,

You just have to click on the rectangular button that says locked - it works for you because you are one of the insiders. The board is locked to all outsiders. The left locked button is for posting a new post. The right locked button is a reply button.

Good luck test driving the site!

Love,
Karen

Hmmm... that makes sense, but then it doesn't. I'm going to look it up sometime today as I think that for outsiders it should show as locked and for insiders it should show the correct button images.

I agree, Mike, that it would be better if it showed the right text for us to whom the board is not locked. Good point. Hope you come up with a solution before Wayne figures it out on his own - he is sooooo fast!!

Mike,

Yeah, I agree that it should show unlocked for us, but there seems to be a glitch in the software that causes it to impose a higher level of security than is selected, when operating in "hidden" mode, and, as you can see, some things show locked, when, in fact, they are not. However, since they're not supposed to be locked, then that doesn't constitute a security problem. We may have to just live with it. It's certainly better to have excess security, than to have a system that's less secure than it's supposed to be.

Those who are not registerd, and not granted permission, cannot even see this board, let alone see whether or not it is locked.

To post, ignore those rectangles toward the top of the message box--look underneath the box, at those two elongated boxes with rounded corners that say "locked". The one on the left is "post", and the one to the right of it is "reply"
