Healing Power of Nature
Hello PP Friends,
It has been a while since I posted anything, although I do come to the forum daily. The volume of messages is overwhelming but I do try to keep up with the MRT discussions as much as possible. I also love the nature and animal photos that we share. I know there are more than a few of us on here that find that our furry friends and nature are very healing.
I have been in mast cell remission since about last August. After 4 years of dealing with the aftermath of the cytokine storm triggered by the flu vaccine, my body has calmed down. I am still gluten free but have been able to add many foods back. I am still testing some foods from my second MRT test, but I have a good handle on diet. Lately I have been in demand for some speaking engagements related to gluten and food sensitivities (presentations for other dietitians), so I am spreading the word and trying to educate others.
Earlier in the spring we took an amazing trip to Maui. I had always wanted to go there to see the whales, so this was a dream come true. We rented a condo right on the beach and could see the whales from our lanai. As an added bonus there were sea turtles right outside of our condo. The week was full of breathtaking views and adventure, including ziplining and surfing. If you click on the images they will enlarge.

I came back from this trip renewed and refreshed. Being surrounded by that beauty was healing in so many ways.
Love,
Mary Beth

It's wonderful that you have the opportunity to educate other dieticians about gluten and food sensitivities. It's sorely needed.
It's nice to know that the mast cell issues can eventually be controlled. Your experience will be encouraging for others here.
Hawii is a great place to unwind and relax. My vacation there a year and a half ago was wonderful. Thank you for sharing your pictures.

You never know what you can do until you have to do it.
Hi Mary Beth,
What a wonderful, uplifting post - thanks!!! So good to hear that you're doing well and have been able to successfully deal with your MC and mast cell issues. It's a true inspiration for us all.

Hi Mary Beth,
Thanks for sharing your beautiful pictures and message with us. I'm so glad you were able to make the trip; a trip that would have probably seemed inconceivable just a few years ago when your mast cell issues were at their worse.
I surely hope good things continue to come your way!
Best,
Julie

the photos are awesome! and the trip sounds like it was devine and much needed!
although the temps are a bit cool here now it is winter, i love the area where i live, it is filled with flora and fauna and it is definately good for the soul (and for clearing the head)
And good on you for spreading the word! I am sure there are many treating IBS patients that are struggling to get well!
take care

Julie, you are so right. Air travel was a big trigger for me, causing big mast cell reactions upon take off and landing. For a few years we were limited to travelling by car. I am so grateful to be feeling well enough to travel.a trip that would have probably seemed inconceivable just a few years ago when your mast cell issues were at their worse.
Gabes, I would love to see where you live. I wll be sure to plan a PP meeting on our next visit there, hopefully Christmas 2013.
