Hi Anne,

Welcome! Truly gut wrenching fatigue and pretty severe joint pain are common with this disease. Prior to getting MC I was walking 8-10 miles per week. Four months after getting MC I could barely walk from the car to the grocery and barely walk around the grocery store. As my gut healed the fatigue cleared and joint pain went away. Best wishes, Brandy

Here's one of the profound things that struck me about MC:

Prior to the onset of my symptoms, whenever I went shopping, everyone else was always impeding my progress around the store, because they were in no hurry, and I was. After my symptoms began, I was the one holding up every one else in the store. After I reached remission, once again everyone else is too slow, and I'm impatient to get around them with my shopping cart.

It is suspected that some of the hardest material known to science can be found in the skulls of GI specialists who insist that diet has nothing to do with the treatment of microscopic colitis.

Hi FB. I know this is so overwhelming. I found this site in February (right after i was dx with MC). I was so upset at first that I had to change my diet so drastically. You will eventually get to the point where you are ready to take charge of how you feel. Just know that if you keep eating the foods that cause the inflammation, then you will always have flare ups ( and will be doing more intestinal damage over time). Good luck

Tex, way too funny!

Anne, it truly does get better. I'm back to salsa dancing at night and spent 5 hours floating down a river on an intertube on Friday which would have been out of the question this time last year. The diet changes will make a huge difference. Brandy

Hi Anne and welcome,
I too have felt the overwhelming fatigue that you are experiencing and some days I don't want to get out of bed, but I do and push myself through my day. I hate it!

Oh my word Tex...this is EXACTLY what has happened to me. My DH used to get very irritated with me while shopping and just about running to keep up with me and folks would get out of my way, as I just walked very quickly everywhere. I notice myself falling behind and it's so frustrating. No offense to anyone but I'm in my 40's and I feel like an 80 year old woman! So frustrating!! You know I said to my DH yesterday....I just want to feel good again, not great, just good. The only activity/time I get a little rush from is when I workout. It seems as though my endorphins or adrenaline gives me a 2-3 hour window when I feel "normal" again and then I crash.
