Hi,
After doing some research I requested that my PCP start me on Questran, since I do have high cholesterol she was more than willing. It has been about 10 days and well I wont say it's perfect but all BM's have been Normans and there have been fewer of them (about 6 a day, down from 8-15 per day).
I have also been able to add a few foods back, I had been sticking to chicken and rice I added beef, pork but still no vegetables or dairy.
So what can you tell me about this drug. Can I expect things to get any better or is this another that will stop working in a short period of time. You know get your hopes up just to disappoint.
I need to have some ideas because in 2 weeks I see the GASTRO doctor again and I have to decide if I want to try Lotronex.
Thanks for always helping
Hugs,
K

i was prescribed Questran Lite when i was first Dx'd.
It does work well, (i used it as my protection when doing long haul flights overseas) keep in mind it is a bit of bandaid, as it is not dealing with the inflammation that is the generator of the D,
did your PCP tell you that you need to have it 4-6 hours AFTER eating and having meds, and at least 6 hours BEFORE eating and having meds or it affects absorption of food, supplements and meds??
based on this, i was setting the alarm clock for 12 midnight to take it, so it didnt affect nutrient absorption.
also clean your teeth after having it, as it can affect the enamel, outer layers of the teeth.
I had tapered off the questran within 3 months (from 8mg per night to 0mg) by then i had elimated Gluten, Yeast, Lactose 100% out of my diet, was eating low inflammation well cooked meals.

Dear Gabes,
Hi, She told me I had to take my meds 1 hours before or 4 after. I was told I had to take it a full stomach??? I will double check this info on monday with the pharmacy.
I am hoping that when I see the gastro and tell him its giving me some control, he might have me take something with it for healing. Although I have to believe that not going so many times has to be giving my insides some rest and perhaps that will give healing
Thanks for the info.
Hugs,
K
