Jean, I did take my GI's advice and start Dexilant in case I was having any acid problems (these have usually been short lived-- it's been months since I have had to take it) and I did not take the 3 mg of Entocort. And this afternoon I do feel better. I was nauseated this morning but not so severely. I was able to run some errands and stop by a viewing of the Venus Transit some science teacher friends of mine were chairing at our college's museum. I've been able to eat more today and am feeling less weak.

We adopted a dog over the weekend and I needed to take him in for a checkup. I was concerned about being nauseated from the usual odors at the vet clinic so I put some Vick's Vapo-Rub in each nostril. I believe it made a difference. I had no trouble while I was there. Yay for a small success.

I'm still going to talk to my PCP about thyroid tests and next week when I see my GI, I still have concerns that motility may be an issue for me.

thanks for asking, take care
Carol

Tex, I have to agree that playing with a factor of a 1000 is ridiculous. if the units are the same, why don't they just say anything over .02 is good? That way my last test, which comes out .01366 tells me exactly the same information as playing with the zeroes.

It seems to me from all I've read that the fact that particular study used elderly men is not a factor in its applicability. Maybe it is, maybe it isn't. But I am inclined to disagree that it's uncommon for younger people to have the issue. What's important, to my way of thinking, is how it directs treatment choices, and how a person responds to that treatment.

Thanks for the Thyroid Manager link--I had not seen that before.

And thanks for thinking I am still young. I do feel younger and younger these days, and according to popular culture, 50 is the new 30...
