I really hope I am not tempting fate but I am feeling a lot better although still tiring from activity which normally would not bother me. However, today I ate 1600 cals - now whether they stay put or not has yet to be seen! That said I am hopeful that my meds are really kicking in (2400mg x 2 per day Asacol) and I am dealing with less pain. What is interesting is I am still eating stuff I would normally eat - now take a big breath!!! I had a Chinese take away chow mein tonight and it was bliss! That is why I am so uncertain about the whole food intolerance thing! Now on one hand something caused this flare up and I do feel that it must be down to a food trigger. My problem is that I cannot identify said guilty party! And constipation is so rare with me and usually because I have been flying which dehydrates me (I have learnt now to drink water all the time when flying!). Assuming as per history that I continue with the meds and improve, food intolerance (as an issue) fades away. But I have noticed that since diagnosis in 2004 I have rarely had more than two or three weeks full remission! And by that - well you know what I mean! So this is a case of watch and see. I have started compiling my list of questions for when I see my consultant. (For my American friends, I wait for one although my GP has requested an urgent one) - I don't have private insurance and I do totally support our National Health Service!!!
So so far my questions are:
1. What type of MC do I have?
2. Views on food intolerance?
3. Lanzoprazole?
4. Vitamin D?
So guys, bearing in mind I live in Northern Ireland and am working with the NHS (who are fabulous!) any other questions I should ask? I don't want to frazzle his brain! Nor do I want to be a patient who comes in and his heart sinks!
But as I go to bed and look forward to your input (for me Wednesday because my Mum (79) and Dad (83) are insistent that I have a few days with them at our little country cottage to recuperate), I sincerely want to thank my new found bunch of friends who have helped me so much over the last couple of weeks! Love you all! Night!
P.S. I will be back on line Thursday! Yes I am talking seriously country cottage - no internet, no mobile phone signal!!!
Happy to Report!
