Denise,
I hope your withdrawal is successful (no relapse), but in case it isn't, the next time you try to withdraw, I suggest that you prolong the withdrawal process much longer, especially when you reach the final stages (after you get to 1 capsule per day, 1 every other day, etc., and beyond). I believe there's a rebound effect on mast cell repopulation after any corticosteroid is discontinued, so the longer the tapering process, the lower the chances of a relapse (because of a lower risk of rebound inflammation). This is just a theory, and there's no medical research to back it up (thus doctors are unaware of it), but our experience here seems to verify that it is a valid phenomenon.
Good luck with your withdrawal.

Hi Denise,
Saw your post, it's touchy I know. I was an Entocort user and I know you want to get off of it. I've been off of it for almost 5 months now and I know at the low end I really dragged it out due to the recommendation of this board. (I was on it for 4.5 months) Ultimately you have to listen to your body. I'm not sure what time zone you are on but since you are on day 3 perhaps consider taking one today and see how you feel two days from now. Depending on how you feel two days from now either cycle into one every three days or one every two days for awhile. Everyone is very individualistic so ultimately you need to listen to your body. I was on 1 every other day for a month then 1 every third day for a month and then 1 every 4th day for just two cycles then 1 every 5th day for just two cycles then I stopped because I couldn't deal with the dizziness.
Tex and some of the other readers may have some better direction but I might pay to err on the side of very long slow gentle taper off.
Good luck and sounds like you are doing well. Keep us posted! Brandy

Denise,
I agree with Brandy. It's a tough question, because we are all different, and IMO, this effect depends on the extent to which mast cells are involved in our reactions. For some of us, they're a minor consideration, but for many of us, they play a much bigger role than we realize.
Anyway, that's why I brought this up. If I were in your shoes, I might be inclined to do as Brandy suggested -- take one every 3 (or 2) days for a while, to "soften the landing" just a bit more. It may be a total waste of time, but there's always a chance that it might prevent a relapse. It's a shame that we don't have a crystal ball, but unfortunately the best we can do is to pay attention to what our body is telling us (as Brandy mentioned), and use our best judgement.

Brandy & Tex,
Thanks for the advice. As soon as I saw Tex's response I took one. I was so sick for 10 months and I cannot relapse after all the hardwork. The diet for the last 5 months brought me to the point of feeling great.
I will keep you posted. I want to get off the blood pressure medicines I am taking due to Entocort. I was always 110/70 and in one month of Entocort shot up to 180/110. I am sure the stress and feeling so lousy played a part in it.
Thanks have a great weekend!
