I just had the best chocolate ice cream in a very long time. It was So Delicious DF, SF, GF, chocolate coconut milk ice cream.

I had been craving ice cream for some time now and had tried the vanilla So Delicious, but it just didn't do it for me, but this chocolate ... absolutely delicious! ... just like the real stuff.

A bit pricey, but worth it.

Yes it's yummy! I have to be careful with it though bc I could easily eat the whole thing! I can only have a little at a time bc it has too much fiber for me.

I was loving it too much, also. That's how I found out I can't tolerate guar gum.

I have been making great chocolate ice cream for a couple of weeks. I was dying for chocolate but couldn't find any out without soy lecitin until I found Dagoba unsweetened, pure chocolate, now have it in the form of ice cream.

I melt it and blend it with coconut milk (without any additives!), agave syrup to taste, and vanilla paste; chill thoroughly and throw in the ice cream machine (they have it at Costco for $30, though mine is reconditioned and bought on Overstock).
A lot of neighbors had a cook out for Father's day by the pool. The participants were Persian, Japanese, Russian, Israeli and Indian, so the food looked, and I bet, tasted FANTASTIC! I can never eat anything at these cookouts, but I brought down my ice cream - mango lemon, raspberry, and chocolate arranged like a neopolitan.
I actually made it for my son's birthday, but is trying not to eat any sugar, so he asked me to keep it for me until he feels he can afford to eat it. He LOVES ice cream and would have finished that in one sitting.

People LOVED it so much I was bombarded with requests for the recipe, and several people will be at Costco tomorrow to buy the machine.

The kids loved the chocolate one the best!!

I think I am going to try making chocolate chips and use them in muffins or cookies, which I haven't tried yet.

WOW - this sounds great (the SO Delicious with coconut milk ice cream)! I'll have to find it.

Lesley - you sure made an impression with your ice cream. It does sound great, and doesn't sound too difficult to make.

Our Walmart does not have many GF items, and no GF ice cream at all, but our Publix does, and that is where I found the So Delicious ice cream. They have a whole section full of wonderful GF/DF items in the cold section.

I hope you do find it in your store, but be prepared, as it is addictive!

Can a person buy things at Costco without a membership online, but as a guest? -- because I would love to buy one of the ice cream makers you mentioned. Your recipe sounds wonderful. I will also check Overstock. I absolutely love ice cream!

As I read these posts I am gripping a pint carton of Luna and Larry's coconut bliss, chocolate hazlenut fudge. Disgustingly delicious!

The ice cream is SUPER easy to make. And way cheaper than store bought. I also love ice cream (eating some strawberry as I write), and would be going crazy if I didn't have it.

Garina, I think you can go to Costco as a guest. I don't know what it costs. Being a member is worth my while, even living on my own. Sometimes I share stuff with people. I can no longer eat tuna, but there's is the cheapest around. I LOVE it, and miss it, especially in summer.

At our Costco they have a Blendtec blender at the cheapest price available.

The very best commercial coconut ice cream I have tasted is called Nada Moo. It is made in Austin . . . not sure if it is available outside of Texas.

Making homemade coconut ice cream is also quite easy if you have an ice cream maker. It is plenty creamy without the addition of eggs. Here is a recipe for honey vanilla ice cream that I used to make:

1 14-ounce can unsweetened coconut milk (not reduced fat)
1½ cups vanilla coconut milk beverage, such as So Delicious
½ cup honey
¼ cup light brown sugar
2 vanilla beans

Place coconut milk, coconut beverage, honey and brown sugar in a saucepan. Split vanilla beans lengthwise and scrape seeds into saucepan. Place beans in saucepan. Stir over medium heat for 4 minutes until honey is dissolved and bubbles start to form around the edges. Remove from heat. Cover and refrigerate until very cold, which will take several hours. Remove vanilla beans and stir. Place in ice cream maker and follow manufacturer directions.
