Rickets Anybody??

Rickets Anybody??

Now I know that I have had rickets my whole life- as far back as I can remember my leg bones hurt at night. I used to play this "game" where I would rub the bottoms of my feet on the sheets until the friction made them hot...taking my mind off the leg pain. When I complained as a child they'd say...that sounds like rickets...but no, she can't have rickets.
My grandmother used to always make fun of the way I walked also :(
..i had a wide gait.

Now to date I have "rolled" or sprained my ankles 7 times as an adult!!
4 on 1 side- 3 on the other so it's not like I have a weaker side or anything.
How do I find out if the sprains are related to the rickets? Maybe I have a bow in my legs or something?

Just wanted to run this past all of you...I have to analyze everything!!thanks for reading! xo

I'm sitting waiting for my turn in the MRI and I'm checking various post here on my little iPhone and what title for a post do I think I see:

"Crickets Anybody??"

I had to reread that title on this small screen LOL

I don't have any knowledge regarding rickets and any relationship to ankle strength. It sounds painful to deal with though. I know the couple of times I've rolled my ankle, it hurt..

Is rickets due to a lack of vitamin D? If so could there be a mechanical reason, such as the ankle joint not forming correctly? These are just speculations, I'm sure others more knowledgable can weigh in here.

Are you still dealing with the shin pains?

Rickets is a disorder caused by a lack of vitamin D, calcium, or phosphate. It leads to softening and weakening of the bones.
Ankle sprains are usually a result of weak tendons and ligaments (as opposed to bones), and they tend to happen more often after you've sprained them once. I suppose a bone that formed abnormally could contribute??

I don't have a problem with ankle sprains (only one that I remember), but I do have joint hypermobility syndrome, or Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome Hypermobility type. Are you very flexible in other areas? Your fingers, elbows, knees, hips or shoulders? It results from weak collagen in the connective tissues.
