I found a weird electrical appliance today
I was cleaning up my kitchen and I found a silver, metal, rectangular machine with two slots in the top, it says "Sunbeam" on the label, do any of you know what it might be?

Bread, now that rings a bell, I think you're right, Martha, wasn't that something we used to eat with jam? I found some homemade raspberry jam in my freezer the other day, couldn't remember what I used that for either at the time, but now that you've mentioned bread I think those 2 things went together somehow. I will have to do a Google search.

You had me worried about opening this link at work when I read the subject line.
I have a number of weird appliances hidden in my kitchen.
There is another one that is rectangular and flat and opens in a sort of clamshell fashion. The puzzling bit is when you open it there are triangular indentations in pairs, moulded into both sides of the inside of the shell. I guess you could use it to cook triangular eggs instead of egg rings?
DH had dragged it out of the cupboard recently, but I didn't see it get used so I am still none the wiser.

I have something like that too, Lyn, only it looks like a machine that would make the treads on running shoes. I plugged it in and it got really hot, not hot enough to melt metal, but certainly hot enough to melt plastic. I wish I could remember what I used it for, if I ever did use it, but this MC brain fog really keeps me confused a lot of the time.
I did do a Google search on bread and while I still don't have an active memory of bread, there are apparently whole industries devoted to it if you can believe what you see online. I don't remember ever actually combining bread and jam, but apparently lots of people do it after putting the bread into what is called a toaster, which is apparently what I have because I found pictures of my Sunbeam online. Contrary to what Martha thought, it doesn't harness the energy of the sun, it actually has coils that heat up when you turn the machine on after putting bread into it and it removes the moisture and makes the bread crispy and apparently LOTS of people like it that way.
So, if that's true, I'm hoping that these vintage machines are worth a lot of money. I am going to clean them up and try to sell them on craigslist, as apparently there are still people who use them.
