Gf 4 weeks on update
Hi,
Just thought I would update you on my progress going gluten free, is now 4 weeks and I have never felt so well, 2 norms every day, slighty C at times but eventually go N, I can believe what a differance going GF has made, I must be one of the lucky one,s getting such a quick result, i will probably have setbacks but I am just enjoying the moment, its so good not to have to wait hours before feeling confident to go out without knowing if i will suddenly need the loo, I did mention before that I ate some cheese one day which gave me D the next day, I havent ate cheese since but haveing said that I dont think I am allergic to dairy as I have had other dairy foods and no reaction, could it just be certain things dairy? not sure yet, so I am going to try cheese again and see what happens , will let you know,
When I was at my worse I would sit on the loo and actually pray for some releif from the pain and discomfort well I think god must have been listening because i found this site and with you good people giving me advise and being so helpfull I have finally found some relief.
Marg.

Marg,
That's great news, and I hope that you feel better with each passing week as your digestive system continues to heal.
Thank you for the update. It's always a pleasure to read about another member getting her life back.

It is suspected that some of the hardest material known to science can be found in the skulls of GI specialists who insist that diet has nothing to do with the treatment of microscopic colitis.
Hi Marg,
I'm glad you found some quick relief.
As to your cheese question, it has been my experience that a hard cheese like Parmesan I can eat but most other cheeses, especially soft cheeses, I can't. In the dairy family I can also eat eggs. There can be different food sensitivities among us and even these are subject to change. It's why we enjoy finding something newly safe to digest.

Thanks everybody, yes coryhub it is strange how we are all different, pity the doctors don't realize this, whats good for one is not suitable for another,
I see my consultant for a checkup on the 18th July, I will tell him how going GF has helped me a lot, wonder what his reaction will be!

Hi Marq congratulations on such a wonderful result. This just goes to show how important controlling the dietary aspect really is. As you go forward be aware that other intolerances may start up. For many it seems that once the major dietary intolerances are addressed others may surface.
I hope you continue to do well

Marg,
That's great news. Regarding the cheese, (assuming you are not sensitive to casein, the protein in milk), keep in mind that an aged, hard cheese can be high in histamine and that can cause D. On the other hand, a fresher cheese may still contain lactose, and that can cause D. Some blue cheeses may contain gluten.

Thanks to you all for the good wishes, not to sure about the casien as I have been using lactose free milk for a while now. I dont have much dairy - so not to sure about that either, guess i will try the cheese again and see what happens but think I will wait for a day when I have not to go out the next day just in case.
Thanks again and I will let you know how things go.
best wishes to you all
