Those of us who have to deal with a "C" phase of MC tend to have more pain, cramps and bloating, IMO. When I had bloating, it was usually world-class.

It is suspected that some of the hardest material known to science can be found in the skulls of GI specialists who insist that diet has nothing to do with the treatment of microscopic colitis.

HI Amber and welcome. I hope you get to the bottom of this thing soon. Have you been tested for IgA deficiency? I have it ( some of my IgGs are low too) Just curious because you mentioned all the colds and infections. That's a classic sign of IgA deficiency. ... which can lead to autoimmune diseases. Also, if this is the case, all your allergy tests would come back negative. If you don't know this information, you should find out ( blood test) because if you ever need a blood transfusion, they need to know so that you don't go into anfalactic shock.

As many have said, eating as few things as possible when you are in a flare is key. Then add one thing in at a time. Many of us can not tolerate fresh fruit or vegetables until the inflammation goes down. There is also a sub group of foods called nightshades that can cause D ( tomato, potato, peppers, eggplant).

Keep us posted

I was tested for IgA and IgG deficiency, and I was shocked that everything was fine. Just in the last two years I've had mono, been hospitalized twice with kidney infections, and gotten pneumonia, and that's just the big stuff. Since January I've had the stomach flu, bronchitis three times, tonsilitis, strep, and multiple sinus infections. My doctors decided it must have something to do with malabsorption of nutrients but none of them could figure out why, until my GI suggested MC.

I'm definitely going to try to start limiting my foods more, I finally started a food and symptom journal today so hopefully that helps. I have noticed problems with uncooked vegetables, mostly when I eat salads. I do smoothies in the morning but try to use either pumpkin or cooked carrots as the base, and sometimes pineapples and very ripe bananas. I think I might have a problem with the nightshade family, so I'm experimenting with that right now.
