No Thyroid Problems- sigh
Well, once again, my lab results are all normal and I'm even "amazing" in the cholesterol area as said by the nurse. How frustrating, I was hoping to figure out the eye pain/burning, scalloped tongue, hair loss, poor vision, fatigue issues, etc. but now I'm back on my own with food and slow recovery to blame. Any comments/suggestions would be appreciated. Of course, I was left with a brief message on my answering machine simply stating all my labs were normal and to call with any questions. Hmmm, I thougtht I was clear at my appointment that everything isn't all great so I'm wondering if I'm just supposed to ignore my daily plague of symptoms because everything is "normal?" I called back and left a message that requesting some numbers. Any comments would be appreciated since the numbers are meaningless to me.
The nurse seemed surprised that I asked for numbers but gave me this (of course I was just walking out the door from lunch to get back to work:
blood count- Normal
liver/kidney function- Normal
thyroid- 0.99
free T4- 1.1
free T3- they didn't check. How frustrating, I was very specific and was told it would be tested. Argh!!!
triglycerides- 43
HDL- 97
LDL- 88
I googled the cholesterol numbers and see they are in a good range but I'm undecided if I should push for other options to address my list of woes. I asked about it and was told to give the diet more time and if they persist I should not hesitate to make another appointment. I've had these issues for well over a year now and they really have no clue about my "diet" and I think another appointment would be a waste of my money. I most likely will make an appointment with my eye doc again just to get my RX adjusted since I'm not seeing very well lately. Last September I had numerous tests and was told everything was normal but that I have dry eye. I've used the drops for 4 months and they feel good but really don't do much for me. I can only wear my contacts on good days (not so often) for a limited time. It's very frustrating because I'm active outdoors and don't like kayaking, motorcyle riding, gardening, etc. with my glasses on. It may seem trivial but it's a big deal to me. I was once offered a steroid eye drop for inflamation but I declined. Maybe I need to reconsider.

I had the same issue with my lab results. I found a doctor that would treat based on my symptoms. Unfortunately I had to make a one way trip of 800 miles to get to them. I will post their address in case you or anyone else is interested.

Your first visit has to be in person. After that, they schedule you for phone visits so that you can get prescriptions updated. If you have questions or issues, you can call & leave a message for a phone nurse.
This is an amazing place. They share our "You can get your life back" slogan. I do not know if they could or would refer you to a doctor closer to your location. People from all over the country & world are treated here.
Also this person may know of someone in your area. His website is https://www.drfitt.com/ . This is the contact information for his administrative assistant, Jodi Bytheway at (806) 353-1447. Dr. Roby Mitchell does not practice medicine, write prescriptions, or accept insurance.
I am currently following a weight loss program or cure as he calls it. After I complete it, I plan to ask our class leader for a referral to a local doctor.
Good luck!

I know Marliss has mentioned this site before. There's a lot of information about thyroid here. http://www.stopthethyroidmadness.com/
It seems we should all have a scalloped tongue. There are more causes beyond thyroid, including D. My acupuncturist noticed it on me, and I have it now.

I have a hunch that most of us do -- we just don't normally notice it because there's no reason to carefully inspect the edges of our tongue.Zizzle wrote:It seems we should all have a scalloped tongue.

It is suspected that some of the hardest material known to science can be found in the skulls of GI specialists who insist that diet has nothing to do with the treatment of microscopic colitis.
I'd never heard of scalloped tongue. I found this video which showed some pictures and I appear to have it (mostly on one side). I'm becoming more and more convinced of my thyroid issues.

Geographic Tongue
I decided to ask you all if any of you has geographic tongue. I've had this condition for several years now, possibly before I started to get the colitis symptoms (I have collagenous colitis). My dentist says that no-one knows what causes it but could it be related to our IBD?
Bile acid malabsorption
Had to see my gastroenterologist last night to get the results of my SeHCat scan. Turns out I'm positive and I have bile acid malabsorption. He's prescribed medication but it's really up to me to decide when to start it. I'm on long term 3mg Budesonide. Anyone else have this?
