Swollen Lymph Nodes?

Post by Deanna in CO »

Hi all,

I've noticed lately that my lymph nodes seem to be swollen all the time, especially one on the side of my neck. I don't have any infections or viral diseases that I know of; I don't have sores anywhere; I don't have other signs of lymphoma such as night sweats (I do have some fatigue and "brain fog," which I've assumed are part of the MC though I've been off gluten now for almost 7 months and if anything those two issues are getting worse).

So just wondering - since swollen lymph nodes seem to be a sign of inflammation - does anyone else deal with chronic swollen lymph nodes? I'm beginning to wonder if I actually need to see my GP about them.

Deanna, I can't say mine are swollen chronically but definitely when my allergies are in full bloom, i can feel them. This is especially on windy days when pollens are stirred up. Also when I'm fatigued I feel I'm more susceptible to swollen lymph nodes.
I take Claritin during the day and 50 mg Benadryl at night. I also irrigate my sinuses when I feel I have more allergies and drainage.

Hope some of this helps.

Mine were usually swollen when I was reacting.

Hi Deanna,

I can't comment on the lymph nodes but I had a truly rough go of it with brain fog for months....and months to the point where it was tough to do my job. I found if I minimized my grains and moved my grains to the evening and ate no grains during the day that helped clear my mind so I could work. The grain thing may be individual to me....I have no idea. I still had brain fog for months after I was off of gluten. At some point I started taking the B vitamins. I think as my gut healed my brain started clearing. Best wishes, Brandy

Hi Deanna
I recommend you go see your PCP. I had a co-worker who developed swollen lymph nodes and had no other symptoms but it did turn out he had Hodgkin's lymphoma. I think you should get it checked out.

Hi Deanna,

I forgot to mention after reading threads on dizziness on this board I also started taking 2 heaping tsp of coconut oil a day that one poster suggested. I'm doing much better now. Brandy

Brandy, how are you ingesting your coconut oil? I wish I could be more consistent with it. I use it liberally on my face and hands and cook with it when I can but don't always like the taste of coconut. I bought some refined (which doesn't have the strong flavor) but I'm not sure I get the same benefits from it (I should research this more as it appears the way it's processed impacts that). Coconut flavor and eggs just don't work for me. I've tried stirring it into my coffee and really don't care for that. I recently read to mix it with almond butter (which I love) so I may try that. Does anyone know how coconut oil reduces dizziness? Just curious.

Hi Deanna,

During big flare I took approx 2 T of coconut oil per day. I generally took it like medicine i.e. a tsp here and there with my food.

I took this based upon Marlis recommendation as PCP, GI doc and internal med doc were all kind of clueless.

Carol, I don't know the science behind why coconut oil helps dizziness but I believe there is thought that fats like coconut oil, avacado etc help with brain function. Tex's Stephani Seneff links discuss this in relation to Alzheimers. Scroll down to the Stephani Seneff links.

I have a palpable lymph node on the right side of my neck, towards the back, about halfway down my neck. It's small and hard, which makes me think it's a scarred lymph node, not an avtive one. I've had scarred nodes in my pelvic region for most of my life too. My OB/GYN says it's probably from my childhood kidney infection.

Deanna,
I have pain on the right side of my neck also and have had it since 2003. Back then my GP sent me for an ultrasound but didn't really see anything other than a slight enlargement. Since I have received my Enterolab results I think I am now understanding why it seems to be taking so long to heal. I don't produce any Iga. But, there are times that I will go a week without experiencing any pain that is usually associated with inflammation. I believe that is the only way I can tell if I'm doing the right things as diarrhea is with me all the time.
