I'm on Diovan, which is an ARB, also. Disturbing news.

If you're having symptoms, it would probably be a good idea to talk to your doctor about the possibility of switching BP meds. The article talks about celiac symptoms, but MC symptoms are exactly the same as celiac symptoms, so I would assume that those patients actually were showing MC symptoms, not celiac symptoms. The doctor was just unfamiliar with MC.

Stopping the use of a drug that triggers MC can stop MC symptoms, but the only way to stop celiac symptoms is to stop ingesting gluten, and the article makes no mention of anyone cutting gluten out of their diet.

I have already cut gluten out of my diet (thanks to this PP site), but I will address the fact to my cardiologist about taking Diovan. Maybe, he can switch me to another drug. I can show him this article. I'm doing fairly okay with a GF/DF diet so far.

If you're not having any symptoms, the Diovan may not be causing any problems for you.

Coincidentally, I've just read (and deep-sixed) a junk-mail letter and coupon for Diovan! I do take blood pressure meds (Zestril/Lisinopril), but have never taken Diovan. I guess I never will!
